Strawmen are alive and well in Dean’s world!

Michelle Malkin, who I think is missing a crucial point again, had a stirring piece on her blog yesterday about yet another possible terrorist sneaking across the border from Mexico, using a South African passport.

I think Dean is missing the point in his rush to build, build a strawman.

I might well agree with her that we should be doing more to protect our borders. Then again, I have to note that, by her own reckoning, the suspected terrorist was caught, which hardly makes this incident compelling evidence that our law-enforcement authorities are failing to catch terrorists coming up out of Mexico.

He does in fact know what Michelle’s main point is because he agree’s with her. Then he rushs off back to the sand pit to build, build that strawman. The terrorist was caught, well now we all feel better don’t we? Well of course there is that itsybitsyteenytiny problem that this particular Terrorist apparently crossed into our land upwards of 250 times. Wooopsy. Color me paranoid but if a terrorist on a watchlist is able to enter the country upwards of 250 times, that is NOT an indication that the system is working.

Indeed, the suspect seems to have, in the esteemed Ms. Malkin’s words, “traipsed across our southern border” right into the hands of the authorities, despite the fact that she had a South African passport. The last I looked, South Africa’s not exactly a Middle Eastern nation.

Here we see the first bricks of the strawman being placed.

This hardly makes for gripping support for calls by so many on the right that “our enemies are not Norwegian-looking grandmothers,” especially because I can think of at least one Norwegian-looking grandmother still alive and well in the United States with a terrorist past she to this day expresses no regrets over. Although there is no evidence that that good old Bernadine still has any interest in terrorism, does anyone really suppose no one could find women like her who’d be interested in helping groups that hate America? I’ll bet some of these people would jump at the chance if it presented itself. I’ll bet some of these people would too.

With the strawman well and truly built Dean winds up to knock it down…and misses. Michelle’s point wasnt that we should ONLY Profile but that we should be closing off our southern border, THAT is the main point she makes and he agrees with but off he rushes to build his strawman.

But even his strawman argument is weak first off it is a fact that the Al Queda prefers to use Arabs, they want people they can trust with the biggest operations. It is no co-incidence that their biggest, most successful operation was carried out by a mix of Saudis, Yemenis, and an Egyptian given the originizations leadership mix of nationalities. They probably would prefer if allowed by the PC crowd to continue using people whose families and alligencies were known.

By profiling we force Al Queda to use people who arent from the same tribes, from the same countries and from the same race. This is a huge intelligence boon to us. It may be almost impossible for us to recruit members from those same tribes, people they have known all their lives, and the ones we do recruit may indeed be double agents. But by forcing them to recruit Norwegian Grandmothers we force them to use people of the same race as the bulk of our intelligence forces. We have now opened up a huge cache of possible agents to infiltrate into their orginizations. Furthermore they realize that this is a weakness and this will cause them to be suspecious of those they do recruit thereby making it easier for us to sow disinformation amongst them that causes them to lose faith in perfectly faithful caucasion Islamofacists. This will cause some measure of trouble for them.

What may be the perfect method for the Government to follow would be to talk a great game of PC and proclaim in policy that profiling was morally wrong. All the while profiling like a big dog to catch their most trusted operatives. When they catch on to the fact that they must use Norwegian Grandmothers start sowing disinformation that you have higly placed operatives within the orginisation just for the fun of watching them chase their asses around.

What keeps me up as night is the fact that it was so easy for the Soviets to penetrate our government in the 40′s, 50′s. I certainly hope our counter intelligence guys are paying attention. These thugs we are fighting have benefited from the training the Soviets gave to both the Egyptians and Iraqis. They wont be naive about intelligence.

All of this points to the dire need to close down our borders. RIGHT NOW. We need to know exactly who is coming in and why they are coming.
