This certainly is what one would hope President Bush would have told the interested parties in private messages. Is it true though? Not sure but the credibility of Jack Wheeler cannot be dismissed lightly. This man was President Reagans personal envoy during the cold war and is said to be the original author of President Reagans strategy of challenging the Soviets in all parts of their empire. Something else to consider is how fond of poker President Bush has been since at least his days at Harvard where he was reputedly an awesome player. Threatening to nuke Mecca is high stakes poker of the highest order. And since Poker is a uniquely American pastime its likely that Bin Laden hasnt got a clue as to whether President Bush will follow through. Course from Bin Laden’s perspective President Bush has not only followed through with his threats towards the Taliban and Saddam he has been successful where others failed dismally.
