Woman Soldier Receives Silver Star for Valor in Iraq

Thank you Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester! Thank you to all of your team for fighting and winning the battles in the war on terror.

Furthermore I have now officially left behind my opposition to women in combat. I didn’t know WTF I was talking about. Obviously.

  1. Whilst this soldier fought well, it has no bearing on the women in combat issue - she was vehicle mounted - the infantry have to be able to lug vast amounts of kit long distances in a short time and still be able to win the fight at the end of it.

The facts are that women don’t have the strength to do it and you can’t put them in “Veh mounted only” units, as combat is not that predictable.

I have great respect for her, but that wouldn’t help on the 80km route march to the battle.

  2. I agree. Anybody who wants to fight in Iraq should be able to fight in Iraq. All our soldiers (male and female) are contributing to the destruction of anti-freedom in the middle east and replacing it with freedom, and there is nothing wrong with that.
