I live in Chicago, and I know nobody who lives in New Orleans. However, I had the occassion to see the news on Sunday before the hurricane hit, and I was completely terrified of the situation. I kept bringing up how terrible Katrina could be that evening with my wife and father-in-law, and my wife asked why I was so concerned. I tried to explain it to her, but it wasn't until Tuesday that she realized what was happening. Goldberg's flippant comments about the Superdome are made worse, precisely because your mother-in-law's description (and news reports) indicate that the scene in there IS an apocolyptic nightmare. I cannot begin to imagine what millions of people are enduring as they have simultaneously lost their homes, their jobs, their ways of life and plenty of loved ones. I stumbled across your blog thanks to Wizbang blog, which I visited thanks to the Corner. Thank you for your accounts, and thank you for advice on how to help.
