I completely believe your mother in law.

I lived in New Orleans in my younger life, and eventually left because of unemployment. While the need to have a job was a primary driver, a secondary driver was a scarey incident with a New Orleans cop on a date. Without going into details, I ditched him during a date after he told me about his “exploits” that any Grand Jury in the rest of the United States would have loved to hear about. He then began to, what would be defined today as, “stalk” me.

I know there are good memebers of the NOPD, but I never met them. Of course, this was during the 80’s and those guy are probably retired now (hopefully).

One of the biggest problems New Orleans has had is its stubborn refusal to address the really bad elements that inhabit the city. Crime has always been VERY BAD, especially the murder rate. Crime, combined with the politics of the city, and you have a very, very bad situation.

Louisiana, especially New Orleans, has been saying “the Americans are coming”, because in a lot of ways, the Americans have never arrived.

I think they have now. How horrible it took this in order for it to happen.

Please tell you mother in law how much we appreciate her dedication and love for humanity. (No matter her politics :)
