UPDATE: Extra Extra Extra Our forces are the ones who let those scumbags go. Neato…now our own hubris will kill us. Exactly whose bright idea was it to release these criminals?
First we get confirmation from a Israeli General, who during the Iraq Freedom military operations was the head of the Israeli military, that yes indeed Iraq managed to ship their WMD’s to Syria . Now we get this bit of cheeful news.
The Iraqis, whom the President just assured us will be our allies in the war against terror, have released 24 of the worst of Saddams henchmen. Let us pray that it was a jailbreak and not some deal made by the Iraqi government. At least we merely rue their incompetence and not their complicity.
To give you some idea of the magnitude of the disaster the release could be to us consider just these two, Rihab Taha aka Dr. Germ and Huda Salih Ammash aka Mrs. Anthrax. There now you are definitely feeling better eh? Let me cheer you up some more.
The FBI still hasn’t got a clue who delivered the Anthrax to all those spots around the country. Iraq has been known as one of the world leaders in the developement of weapons grade Anthrax. Guess who ran the program that put Iraq among the leaders in weaponized anthrax, Huda Salih Ammash.
We know that one of the 9/11 hijackers showed up at a Florida hospital with a lesion that after the Doctor who treated him was shown similar lesions agreed that the lesion appeared to have been caused by Anthrax. We know from Able Danger that the time line the 9/11 commission depended on to discredit the meeting between Atta and Ahmed al-Ani has been itself discredited. Which means that those persistent rumors that Atta was passed anthrax by al-Ani could very well be true. That would explain Al Qaeda’s desire to have meetings with Iraq regarding using bio weapons.
If you plug Atta into the anthrax case a lot of questions appear to have answers. Why was that tabloid in Florida hit so hard? Why did one of the hijackers show up in a Florida hospital with anthrax lesions on his leg? What was Atta doing trying rent a twin engine with the excuse that he wanted to crop dust? One of the cute little scenarios floating around the Government is a crop duster dropping Anthrax over a city. Gee you think that the Government thinks it can work? Casualties in the hundreds of thousands answer your question…? No I cannot link to a source.
You get the picture, releasing Dr. Anthax isn’t the brightest thing to have happened in Iraq. Though it pales in comparison to our allowing the Weapons themselves to be hidden in Syria and who knows where else. Watching President Bush this morning I was struck by his admission that the intel was wrong and Saddam had no weapons. Then it occured to me that of course he would rather admit that the Intel was wrong, to admit that our stalling the invasion helped Saddam move the weapons is a lot more damaging to him. One of the prime reasons for going into Iraq was to stop the spread of those very same weapons to terrorists intent on murdering us in the millions. Which would you admit to? Saddam didn’t have any weapons or Saddam had the weapons and we allowed him to spread them to our enemies!
Now we are allowing the brains behind those weapons to be spread around the world. Who is minding the store?
