Protests against cartoons’ publication Hundreds of people have marched in Auckland protesting over the decision by two New Zealand newspapers to publish cartoons which have angered Muslims worldwide. The protestors carried placards denouncing the publication of the cartoons by Wellington’s Dominion Post and The Press in Christchurch as they walked down Queen Street.
Embassies torched over cartoons Thousands of Syrians enraged by controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed torched the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus - the most violent demonstration after days of furious protests by Muslims around the world.
Protesters set fire to Danish Embassy in Beirut Twenty eight people were wounded when Lebanese demonstrators set fire to the Danish consulate building in the latest violent protest against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.Security forces used tear gas and fired their weapons in the air in a desperate attempt to stop the onslaught.
Wide protests over cartoons The Pakistan’s Parliament passed a resolution condemning the cartoons as “blasphemous and derogatory”, as protesters chanted “death to France” and “death to Denmark”. The resolution said: “This vicious, outrageous and provocative campaign cannot be justified in the name of freedom of expression or of the press.” In Jakarta, up to 300 persons invaded the lobby of a building housing the Danish embassy. Shouting “Allahu akbar” (God is great), they smashed lamps, ripped up a Danish flag and hurled rotten eggs and tomatoes. No one was hurt.
Al-Qaeda group threatens Denmark An Al-Qaeda affiliated terror group issued a grim warning to Danish citizens on Thursday: ‘You will see your own blood as an answer, and that is revenge from our prophet,’ the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigade, which has been active in Iraq, wrote to a London-based homepage.
Denmark’s embassy in Indonesia egged Demonstrators in Jakarta tried to storm Denmark’s embassy in the Indonesian capital on Thursday in anger over newpaper Jyllands-Posten’s Mohammed caricatures.
Palestinians protest Danish cartoons Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on Saturday, with several dozens storming European buildings and burning German and Danish flags, to protest cartoons deemed insulting to the Prophet Muhammad. A leader of the Islamic militant group that recently won Palestinian elections told an Italian newspaper that those involved in the cartoons should be put to death. And 6,000 protesters turned out in Nazareth for the first demonstration against the caricatures on Israeli soil.
Afghans hold anti-Danish protests The protesters marched in the eastern city of Mihtarlam, in Laghman province, shouting slogans against Denmark where the cartoons were first published. One official said more than 800 people took part in the protest. Islamic tradition bans depictions of the Prophet and the publication has enraged Muslims worldwide
