Thanks for the terrific link.

If I start feeling a bit better from this bug I caught from my rug rats may post on it if you don't mind.

Forgot to mention, the "enlightened Arab scholars" were actually Assyrians. They were conquered by the Arabs, who subsequently "stole" much of their knowledge. Read about it here:

I posted this on another blog and thought it would be well received here:

The Library of Alexandria was attacked in the late 4th century by what history describes as Christians. But it wasn't destroyed. It lasted another 250 years! But was finally destroyed once and for all by....who? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

"whatever was left of the Alexandria Library was finished off after about AD 640 when Arab legions swept through Egypt on their mission to conquer the world for Islam. It is reported that the Arab military governor, baffled by the dusty scrolls in the library, asked Mecca what to do with them. Burn them, he was told, for 'either the manuscripts contain what is in the Koran, in which case we do not have to read them or they contain what is contrary to the Koran, in which case we must not read them.' The books were used as fuel for Alexandria's 4,000 public baths. There were evidently enough left to heat bath water for several months. The last of the treasures of antiquity blazed brightly one last time and were gone. Enlightened Arab scholars later recovered from other sources some important works of Greek science and philospophy, such as the writings of Aristotle and Archimedes. But it would be centures before humankind could begin to reconstruct the knowledge that was lost in Alexandria." (Feats and Wisdom of the Ancients, Time-Life Books, 1990)

Very well put. The treasonous left continually blames "tension" on the victims of Islam-inspired violence. Their message is clear: "Stop rocking the boat and submit already. We have."

It's like dealing with pod people.
