Pierre Legrand responds to a near slanderous personal attack by Dean Esmay…

UPDATED: Hilarious Deano has banned me…from trackbacks after calling me a Hatemongering Bigot…wow. Impressive defense of your point of view Deano. Lets see I don’t call you names or personally insult you but am banned anyway. Your arguments really are poor.

Dean Esmay the very same person who was so stricken by personal attacks that he composed this missive over at PJ Media leads off a response to me thusly: Hatemongering Bigot Exposes His Own Ignorance, Makes Laughingstock Of Himself

Sheesh Deano going right to the personal insults but that’s your style isn’t it Deano, then you bitch and moan like a child when someone attacks you? You even had the audacity to post about it over at PJ Media, crying like a child about personal attacks, to which they posted my little reply to you “Pot Kettle Black Dean”? Lets see if I can avoid calling you names while still making you look like what I might call you if I were to descend to your level.

Bigot, Moi? One who is strongly partial to one’s own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. Geez Deano I think you better review your definitions and consider that I am not strongly partial to my group, unless you define my group as that group that views liberal values one of the requirements of life. But I am not strongly partial to Christianity, nor Judaism, nor Hinduism, nor any of the religons…except that to which everyone who lives in the West should give thanks to each morning, a system of government which guarantees the rights of individuals to say what they want, worship where they will or won’t and associate with whom they please. You are correct in that my view of Islam has in the last 4 years taken a turn for the worse. If worrying about a group that wants to remove me from my freedoms makes me a bigot then yup I am there. But I don’t think it does. See you also believe that there exists a group inside of Islam that wants to separate you from your freedoms, we differ by degrees. You believe that only a small section of radicals inside of Islam is the problem and I believe that Islam itself calls for my conversion by any means ultimately.

Deano you make mention of INDC and my little debate with them. Thanks for noticing…hehe. Wasn’t it great how Dorkafork has that entire post, The Silence Is Deafening where he was quoting supposedly moderate Muslims who he tried to make out supported us, and in fact most of them didn’t? I thought it was hilarious, he didn’t and he wasn’t very appreciative of my pointing out all the errors in his little missive in this post by little ole me. Poor little Bill had to quit posting for a while after that little lovefest with ferrets taking his place, at least the ferrets were amusing. Boy I sure was impressed by his and Dorkafork’s debating techniques…very similar to yours. Lots of name calling and sliding around of facts as first one then the other so called “fact” turned out not to be so.

But on to the meat of the dispute Dean’s willingness to see only good in anything that Islam does. Perhaps he is a secret Propaganda Minister for Islam, nah couldn’t be anyone doing that for real would be more subtle. For instance this bit of brilliance:

Think on it: President Karzai of Afghanistan actually felt the need to take phone calls on this matter from the Canadian Prime Minister. And the American Secretary of State. And the German Prime Minster. And the leaders of many other democratic nations. And he felt the need to take their concerns seriously. And he felt the need to assure them all that this man would not be executed. All of which actually happened within the last 72 hours.

Read that all as an indictment of the eville moooslims if you like. I read it as a country that is emerging at astonishing speed from the 12th century into the 21st.

Well duh, Karzai is not hanging from a street-pole because of the Canadian Prime Minister. Karzai would have taken a call from the American President if President Bush had felt some desire to defend one of the most important freedoms a man can receive from a Government, the Freedom of Religion. Matter of fact wasn’t that one of the main reasons we formed a certain Super Power…why yes it is! Karzai is a good man and in fact there are indeed many fine men who are Muslims. But its worth noting that all of the “Moderate” Imams in Afghanistan who were persecuted by the Taliban for being “Moderate” have called for Abdul Rahman to be pulled apart. Not sure but that doesn’t sound very moderate.

One of your commenter’s hit the nail on the head Deano. What I don’t like about you and your beliefs isn’t that you are not calling for a Holy War. Its that you and your ilk refuse to see anything bad in Islam which is astounding considering the record of murder and conquests across the globe. You act like none of that ever happened. Its almost like in your world, women are free inside of Islam, Imams can french kiss little boys and at the same time call for walls of bricks to be dropped on gays. You are a cheerleader for the worst sorts of behavior and that is what bothers me.

By the way in response to your post about Democracy and Islam let me present:
.AMIR TAHERI’S REMARKS AT DEBATE “ISLAM IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH DEMOCRACY”by Amir TaheriBenador Online May 19, 2004
Let us return to the issue of equality.
The idea is unacceptable to Islam.
For the non-believer cannot be the equal of the believer.
Even among the believers only those who subscribe to the three so-called Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam ( Ahl el-Kitab) are regarded as fully human.
Here is the hierarchy of human worth in Islam:At the summit are free male MuslimsNext come Muslim male slaves
Then come free Muslim women
Next come Muslim slave women.
Then come free Jewish and /or Christian men
Then come slave Jewish and/or Christian men
Then come slave Jewish and/or Christian women.
Each category has rights that must be respected.
The People of the Book have always been protected and relatively well-treated by Muslim rulers, but often in the context of a form of apartheid known as dhimmitude.
The status of the rest of humanity, those whose faiths are not recognised by Islam or who have no faith at all, has never been spelled out although wherever Muslim rulers faced such communities they often treated them with a certain measure of tolerance and respect ( As in the case of Hindus under the Muslim dynasties of India.)
Democracy is the rule of mortal common men.
Islam is the rule of immortal God.
Politics is the art of the possible and democracy a method of dealing with the problems of real life.
Islam, on the other hand, is about the unattainable ideal.
We should not allow the everything-is-equal-to-everything-else fashion of postmodernist multiculturalism and political correctness to prevent us from acknowledging differences and, yes, incompatibilities, in the name of a soggy consensus.
If we are all the same how can we have a dialogue of civilisations, unless we elevate cultural schizophrenia into an existential imperative.
Muslims should not be duped into believing that they can have their cake and eat it.
Muslims can build democratic society provided they treat Islam as a matter of personal, private belief and not as a political ideology that seeks to monopolise the public space and regulate every aspect of individual and community life.
Ladies and gentlemen: Islam is incompatible with democracy.
I commend the motion. AMIR TAHERI

Then to cover your cowardice in naming the evils inside of Islam you misrepresent me by saying that I want a Holy War. No one wants a Holy War except those fanatics on the other side. Even you recognize that there are some on the other side who want a Holy War. The difference between us is you believe that to avoid a holy war you must appease Muslims by agreeing that the Sun shines out of Allah’s ass. I believe that to avoid a Holy War and to actually support moderates inside of Islam we must be truthful about what Islam has done in its history that deserves condemnation. We must point out those flaws that will prevent Muslims from moving into the 21 st century.

Finally it is worth noting that you are attempting to silence dissent by hurling the most hated pejoratives at those who disagree with you. You should find some solace in that is exactly the same tactic that was/is used by those who didn’t like the Mohammed Cartoons. Perhaps you are indeed allied to them? Perhaps you might instead polish up your talking points…? Just a suggestion.

And lets not forget “Pot Kettle Black” Deano…that really was a cute post of yours at PJ Media…not very fond labels so let me simply close by paraphrasing Jesus…He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at him.

Its been fun Deano really….maybe you can borrow Bill’s ferrets?

  1. [...] So anyways Instapundit links to him tonight with the comment that Esmay is disputing suggestions that Islam is incompatible with Democracy and calling out both Michelle Malkin and Hot Air. Knowing that Esmay’s entire argument will revolve around strawmen I click on over to watch the fireworks. I would participate in the discussion over there but sadly I have been banned, not because I launched personal attacks or defamed him but because he disagreed with me and he couldn’t respond to my arguments.
