Illegal Aliens, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

The Wall Street Journal is nothing if not consistent. They are consistently the worst of the open border advocates. The disdain dripping from this article regarding the very sensible House Leaders got all over my keyboard.

Washington Wire » And What Do They Really Think?

If there was ever a doubt about where House leaders stand on immigration, the title of today’s hearing before an immigration subcommittee says it all: “Should We Embrace the Senate’s Grant of Amnesty to Millions of Illegal Aliens and Repeat the Mistakes of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986?”

Naturally and as usual for anyone advocating open borders lots of lying is in order. Take for instance this bit of nonsense.

Tamar Jacoby of the Manhattan Institute, a leading proponent of the Senate bill, called the witness list “as one-sided as [the hearing’s] title,” and offered her own take on the question. “The problem with the 1986 law was not so much the amnesty,” she said in a statement. “What was missing in 1986 was effective enforcement and – equally important – enough new worker visas to keep up with our growing economy.”

So then I guess that Jacoby is all in favor of stiff employer sanctions? Not likely since that would be shutting down illegals.

But the biggest joke of this entire mess is the idea that once we legalize all of these 12 million to 20 million illegals our economy won’t be demanding another 12 to 20 million new illegals. After all the conditions that demanded the original population of illegals will once again be in play. These law breaking businesses like Tyson Foods and Mohawk Textiles have not broken their addiction to employees who don’t complain about low pay, dangerous working conditions and all sorts of other working conditions that Americans wouldn’t stand for.

  1. Exactly and being the way I am once a person tries to lie to me I lose a tremendous amount of respect for them. Which has been fairly disheartening considering how much I respected President Bush.

Not to get me wrong in the war I expect him to lie to me if it means winning. But domestic policy lying to me tells me something essential about your character…or lack.

  2. On the bright side, at least she admits that it was amnesty in 1986, and that she’s okay with that. It drives me nuts that President Bush says this new bill isn’t amnesty because it doesn’t include “automatic” citizenship.
