Dean Esmay, spittle flying defends Islam against insults…

Michelle responds to spittle boy…as does Hot Air  Classical Values gets it all wrong

(Updated for clarity)

Dean Esmay darling of a certain section of the blogsphere doesn’t much like anyone to disagree with him. Which is somewhat hilarious when you consider his bleatings in the past about the nastiness of the conversation.

It is true that, of the slightly more than a dozen people who’ve ever been banned from commenting on Dean’s World, a majority have been left of center–but probably only 70% of them or so. In 100% of cases, the banning was for the same reason: personal attacks on my character and my motives (or, occasionally, directed toward my family or some other regular to this blog).

Remember that personal attack character thingy…it is important.

So anyways Instapundit links to him tonight with the comment that Esmay is disputing suggestions that Islam is incompatible with Democracy (update Dean calls out Malkin and Hot Air) and calling out both Michelle Malkin and Hot Air. Knowing that Esmay’s entire argument will revolve around strawmen I click on over to watch the fireworks. I would participate in the discussion over there but sadly I have been banned, not because I launched personal attacks or defamed him but because he disagreed with me and he couldn’t respond to my arguments.

Lets deal with the strawman argument that is Dean Esmay’s forte’.

I suppose such anti-Islam statements must add some moral clarity: oh, Muslims are the enemy. So let’s just fight the Muslims. But that means you want to fight well over a billion people found in over 100 countries around the globe. Including people in America’s armed forces who are serving with honor and distinction right now. Including many countries which have done great work in helping us round up and/or kill terrorists.

Not a single person I have read in the mainstream or even near the mainstream is calling for an all out war against Muslims. Yet he retreats to this nonsense every single time someone declares Islam not compatible with Democracy.

Then he screws up analogies to try and defend the indefensible, stating that if we declare Islam to be incompatible with democracy that this is akin to us back in WW2 declaring ourselves at war with all Germanic people. huh? Being born Germanic is not a choice Dean…being a Muslim is a choice.

Being a Muslim who happens to think that Osama Bin Laden is a hero is a choice, a choice that 38% in the worlds most populous “Moderate” Islamic nation, Indonesia, believe is correct. But even if you make that choice no one is calling for your death and Dean knows this but like a commenter points out Dean’s arguments fall apart if he acknowledges that point.

Dean,

This is like the tenth person that you mischaracterized their position and then attacked. You never provide specifics because if you did you couldn’t support your assertions.

There are other ways to fight the intolerant nature of Islam than all out war on every Muslim on the planet at once. That’s stupid and Malkin never asserted that position. You really seem to have no concern for the truth what-so-ever.

Does the fact that there a billion muslims make their ideology ethical and something to be lauded or just something to be feared?

The US has had to deal with Islamic trouble in the past. We dealt with it without having to take on ever Muslim on the planet, just those attacking our interests and the countries that harbored them. We didn’t go into fits of political correctness to accomplish it either.

Naturally Dean responds in a calm and rational manner to this comment.
Brian: You lying traitor. I have provided specifics time and time again, and all you have offered in response are vague handwaving generalizations and out-of-context, cherry-picked quotations of the Koran.Indeed, intellectual coward that you are, you have not answered my specifics, such as why you do not acknowledge Muslims like Hamid Karzai and Nouri al-Maliki as our allies. You do not do that, because you can’t: you’re such an intellectual lightweight that you say nothing about them—you God-damned Benedict Arnold turncoat traitor.

Oh, but you have some cherry-picked, out-of-context quotes from the Koran, which you use to spit on our Muslim allies, you God-Damned traitor son of a bitch.

I hope you know I only keep you around to help emphasize my point: there are people on the Right who are fucking traitors, which is what you are.

Until you acknowledge and embrace our Muslim allies, that is all you will ever be: a fucking traitor [spit] .

Not content with the amount of spittle flying over his keyboard Dean lets loose with some more of his patented self-righteous venom further down. Responding to a person politely asking Dean to chill…gets you this. You remember that personal attacks thingy I asked you to remember? Isn’t this a cute way to reinforce that?
Sean: No I will not chill, dude. I’m mad about this, and I will not stop being mad about it.These are our allies. If you cannot acknowledge them as our allies, then you’re a God-damned traitor, and I hate your fucking guts.
So then I am guessing that Glenn agrees with this sort of behavior? Is Dean the best that those on the side of “Islam is a rational religion deserving of respect” can do? Are there no other defenders of Islam who can manage it’s defense without constructing strawmen and spraying spittle over their keyboards? Are there no defenders of Islam who don’t use the same tactics as the Muslims do when they are insulted, shout and scream at their opponents? Apparently not or Glenn would have long ago linked to them. So then can we now declare that argument to be over, Islam is not compatible with Democracy, and move on to how do we liberate those within Islam?
