First Amendment…we don’t need no stinking 1st Amendment in Louisiana

Hat tip from Cathy a fellow Homeschooler.

Well gosh this seems like a sparkling good idea.

Emily Metzgar » Regulating LA blogs? So at its next meeting, the state ethics board intends to discuss the regulation of political blogs in Louisiana (hat tip The Dead Pelican).

Sure I bet they can get away with regulating blogs. After all no one is paying attention to Louisiana anymore.  After all if Grandstand McCain can get away with a blatant attempt at regulating the First Amendment (McCain~Feingold Campaign Finance reform) for a ”good cause” why can’t every other two bit crooked politician attempt to so. It’s not like anyone from the President to the Supreme Court will be worried about us losing our first amendment rights or anything. After all didn’t they ratify that gag masquerading as reform by as President signing it into law and the Supreme Court ruling that limiting free speech is A-Ok as long as it furthers the public good according to a…majority?!? Hmm now I am no legal wizard and I did attend school here in the Third World State of Louisiana but isn’t the constitution supposed to protect me from people assuming to know public good better than I?

I wish the ethics board the best of luck in trying to overturn the First Amendment without stirring up a blog swarm that garners national attention.

Well lets not get too cocky after all politicians managed to pass the Incumbent~Protection act…oops McCain~Feingold Campaign finance reform over the objection of every single blog of note.

Slip slidin’ away Slip slidin’ away …cya First Amendment it was fun while it lasted.

  1. Well Michelle nothing should ever surprise you about anything you read in Lousiana having to do with Politics. For instance did you know that we had an entire Police Division the 1st under federal watch because they were lying about crime statistics…claiming that New Orleans was safer than it was.

    Jefferson101…they can try.

  2. Well, if they want to get too frisky with the 1st, that’s why we have the 2nd, right?

At the rate things are going, I’m beginning to wonder how long it’s going to be before they (that’d be .Gov) starts insisting we exercise the 2nd.

    Getting closer all the time.

  3. Reading all the violations of ethics (and Laws) on the docket makes this one look incredibly stupid. Trust the scared politians to take it seriously. After all, we don’t want the voice of the people heard – might hurt some good ol boys.
