[...] Looks like it is gonna be hard to moderate those rascally Imams. Maybe they don’t want to be moderated? Maybe by asking them to moderate we are asking them to kill their religion? What then Rod? I suspect you know the answer but it is too terrible to believe. Maybe I had it right back when I stated in an earlier post: Do we believe that the followers of Islam have been asleep though the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution? Did they miss the Emancipation of the Slaves in the United States some 140 years ago? Saudi Arabia as late as the 1960’s continued to allow slavery. We act as if Muslims have been children asleep for the last 500 years. Perhaps they have seen what we have to offer and have decided that what we have gained is not enough to let go of what they hold dear? [...]

[...] Keeping Defense Spending at the same level as a percentage of GDP that it was when Clinton was in office. It was kept at the same level that had Candidate Bush declaring that our military needed rebuilding in a debate with Gore in 2000. MODERATOR: You said in the Boston debate, Governor, on this issue of nation building, that the United States military is overextended now. Where is it overextended? Where are there U.S. military that you would bring home if you become president? [...]

[...] It is beyond saying that there is one group of people in this who bear no blame. Our military has stood on the frontiers of civilization bearing the brunt of our enemies attacks. They have done so on a budget that would have been cause for shame had a Democratic President been responsible for it. Had a Republican Congress been dealing with a Democratic President who proposed to not raise military spending past some of the lowest points of the Clinton Years that Democratic President would have been ridden out of town on a rail. And yet here we stand 5 years into a 2 front war spending less than Clinton. Had a Democratic President stood by and allowed secrets to flow like water out of our intelligence agencies Republicans would have rightly demanded investigations into the Counter Intelligence arms of our intelligence agencies. Instead we are treated daily to secrets being paraded like cheap whores on some seedy corner of a dying city by an assembly of bureaucrats who seem to think that nothing will happen that no matter what burden we place upon our country we can win. But I digress that is a story for another article. [...]

[...] Since I don’t have a lot of time these days to post let me also say thank you to Andrew C. McCarthy of National Review for his kind link. In “The Fall Guy Rumsfeld is out, but was the problem the execution or the plan?” he linked to an article that took months to put together and which sadly got no notice, even by PJ Media which has usually been kind enough to link to stories of mine. Well having Andrew McCarthy link to me was a real pick me up and a terrific reward for all the effort put into that article. I mean sheesh here is a Former Federal Prosecutor reading my scribblings…isn’t it still a great world! At least for a little while longer. For those of you who are wondering which article I am talking about here is a link. Candidate Bush on Nation Building and Can Islam and Freedom survive one another? [...]

[...] Republicans biggest enemies are not the Democrats. No sir, their biggest enemies are their own failed attempts at mimicking Democrats. Where is Defense spending as a % of GDP under Republicans? Is it higher or lower than when Clinton was in office. Take a look and you might be surprised…for a headstart our current spending as a % of GDP is 3.7%. Under Clinton our spending held over 4% the for the majority of his 8 years. With years well over 4.5% and he didn’t have a war to contend with. [...]

Thanks for an in-depth and cogent article. For the life of me I can't figure why the US cares about the UN and why our politicians won't take the necessary steps to combat our declared enemies. At times I think it's because the politicians are mostly lawyers and businessmen. Perhaps they are afraid of disrupting the "economy" with fast and decisive action? Could it be the love of money and commerce?

We also face an anti-American media who would work to defeat us like they are doing now.

It's hard to find people willing to sacrifice for truth and freedom.
