America Blinks follows Spain into voting for appeasement

After the Madrid bombings the Spanish people threw out the incumbents and voted in those who promised to “talk” to the terrorists. America laughed at such cowardice thinking how tough she has been in the past. Well…

No Madrid Bombing but we still voted in those who promised talk to terrorists instead of taking action against terrorists. Shall we attempt to blame the politicians who admittedly botched much in the last two years or shall we blame the American people? We got the Government we deserved as a people, we blinked in the face of terror. Excuses that the Main Stream Media misled us do not impress because it is possible to bypass the MS if you care enough to know. You can get the information to make informed decisions about politicians if you have the stomach to face the facts as they stand. But for many those facts are too bleak, and instead of facing them, we as a people have decided to believe that reality only exists if we admit to it.

Now pray that not too many of us die because it is inevitable that those we fight will have a statement. An opening bid in the “negotiations”. Unlike Spain we will be hit again and again as our enemies attempt to gain favorable responses from a party filled to the brim with people who believe talk is a substitute for action.

It is enough to know that he is part of Snowcrofts RealPolitic group to know that he will be a disaster as Sec of Defense. Buckle up we are going into some really bad times.

You absolutely nailed it. America made a conscious decision yesterday to submit to dhimmitude and not to provide a sufficient national defense to resist it. It therefore is incumbent upon each of us to get a gun, since we will have to defend ourselves individually now that our government won’t defend us collectively.

The numbers of the Left are growing due to America’s rapidly growing Third World population and a whole generation coming of age knowing nothing of a time before widespread cohabitation, single-parent families, “Heather Has Two Mommies”, etc. As the Left consolidates its power, it will attempt to criminalize contrary opinions. Time to get a gun to protect your right to independent thoughts as well.

I don’t differ with you on that, but I will note that this was a mid-term election. In the mid-terms, all politics are local. Even during WWII, they were.

Those of us who knew what a Democratic majority in Congress would do to the War effort are appalled. But the Republican majority had at least 4 years to act like we were in a war, and they didn’t do so, to any notable degree.

Thus, in spite of the fact that I agree with your analysis of where we are headed because of this, I have to lay the blame at the feet of the people who were supposed to be leading and Governing us, and did such a greviously inept job of it that they couldn’t even manage to remind the majority of the electorate that we are, in fact, at War.

Second I simply disagree with the idea that the American people are not greviously misinformed by their own lack of interest. I am not excusing the Republicans because of their dismal record of explaining what the stakes are but ultimately the responsibility for this country’s survival lies with the people. Yesterday we made a very dangerous decision and all the explanations will not amount to much when the next attack comes.

We are at war. Whether the people understand this or not does not change that elemental fact. If they do not understand this then that is their fault. If they do understand this and still voted Democratic then they are cowards. We blew it and soon we will reap the rewards of our cowardice.

In the process of discussing something else at another site, I had a lightbulb come on.

There is actually a good solid explanation for why the Republicans lost this election. “It’s the Economy, Stupid!”

No one wants to believe that, with unemployment at 4.4%, inflation well under control, and the Dow at record levels. But the Professional Pundit class doesn’t punch a time clock for a living.

I don’t know anyone who works in industry in this country who doesn’t feel as if they are skating on very thin ice right now. Between the flood of illegal labor and the pressure on business to cut every dime they can out of their operation to be competitive, anyone who punches a timeclock knows full well that their employer would cheerfully kick them out the door in a New York minute if they could find someone to do the same job for a buck an hour less.

And that’s the insecurity that did a lot of damage to the Republicans. If I’m not feeling like I have any job security at all, I don’t care where the Dow is, now do I? I’m not close enough to retirement for that to matter.

And I don’t own enough stock to retire early.

And there it is. Business climate and Job Security. We can’t all be self-employed or work for the Government.

I had the same thought as I watched the American people choose the government they deserve. However, in this case, the ummah didn’t even have to detonate explosives inside a nation to get the required dhimmitude. The American people’s Democratic leadership believe that isolationism and tariffs will protect them from the world, while national health care and murdering embryos will protect them from fate. It hasn’t worked before and it won’t work today.

Doom gathers on the horizon. It has been earned by the self-centered, ignorant and irresponsible American electorate. I am ashamed of and embarrassed by fellow Americans who embrace effortless survival.

I sure hope Republicans don’t trot out that nutter, John McCain as the party’s savior in 2008. That will only serve to add more years to the wilderness that began yesterday. New leadership better be NEW.

I, too, hoped that we wouldn’t come to this pass.

But rather than blaming “the voters”, I think that the full credit for everything bad that happens over the next two years should be laid at the feet of those who brought it on.

The leadership of the Republican Party, particularly in the Senate, are the ones who brought this on us, by being totally clueless and inept.

Voters were not voting on the war, or the President, in spite of what Diane Pelosi wants us to believe. They were voting on the fact that in spite of a 55-45 majority in the Senate and control of the House, the Republicans couldn’t accomplish anything, other than more of the same-old same-old, and throwing more money at things.

They are the ones who put us in this hole. I hope the butcher’s bill isn’t too high before we get out of it, but unless the Republicans come up with some new, and competent, leadership, I’m not holding my breath.
