Happy Birthday Marines, one group of Americans who haven’t turned into a bunch of sniveling cowards. May god help the rest of us.

Happy Birthday to the men and women who have the guts to stand on the frontiers and kick the bad guys in the ass.

Semper Fidelis

Means “always faithful” Pray that the American people will not be forced to remember that faithfulness is a two way street.

Since I don’t have a lot of time these days to post let me also say thank you to Andrew C. McCarthy of National Review for his kind link. In The Fall Guy Rumsfeld is out, but was the problem the execution or the plan?” he linked to an article that took months to put together and which sadly got no notice, even by PJ Media which has usually been kind enough to link to stories of mine. Well having Andrew McCarthy link to me was a real pick me up and a terrific reward for all the effort put into that article. I mean sheesh here is a Former Federal Prosecutor reading my scribblings…isn’t it still a great world! At least for a little while longer. For those of you who are wondering which article I am talking about here is a link. Candidate Bush on Nation Building and Can Islam and Freedom survive one another?

Now a bit about how I am feeling regarding the election. In short we got the Government we deserved and shortly we will begin paying for it. The cost will manifest itself as more TV spectacles of Americans dying at the hands of 7th Century thugs. For all the Republicans faults and there were a multitude none of them, added up, came close to matching the one main weakness of the Democrats, plain cowardice. They don’t like the world we are faced with so they simply deny it exists. What bullshit. Only thing that was worse was the American people lapping that crap up, because they are afraid of the other view of reality. As if we can choose which reality we can deal with.

And no don’t amuse me by trying to claim as some bloggers I respect have tried, that it was not the American peoples fault. It was indeed their fault. They are not children and should have known without having to be spoonfed that the main issue is the war and war’s are not won by wishing them away. The Democrats are going to try and wish this goddam war away and so will either allow our enemies enough time to rebuild or enough time to win. It is so goddamn depressing it is hard to express. Damn the Republicans for being failures and forgetting what was important. Damn the American People for being cowards and damn the Democrats for not being made of the same stern stuff as FDR. Wars are not won by wishes. Personally I don’t give a crap about any of the other issues, stem cells, abortion, federal spending, immigration all pale next to our war for survival. The central issue was the war and we have failed to understand this central fact. We have no excuses…please don’t make any for us.

  2. Open Border Chairman Martinez to lead GOP?

The GOP base was sent a shock wave by picking a pro-amnesty Mel Martinez as the Republican Party Chairman. It seems clear now, that President Bush will push his open border agenda with the help of Nancy Pelosi lead Congress. Mel Martinez job will be to control GOP Party decent from Congress, with the promise of new Hispanic voters.

    Palm Beach Post

Signaling a new direction for the Republican Party, which had heavy losses in the Hispanic community in last week’s elections, Florida Sen. Mel Martinez appeared ready Monday to become the party’s new general chairman while retaining his Senate seat.

Martinez thrust himself into the contentious debate over immigration, helping craft the Senate version of a comprehensive immigration bill that would offer a route to eventual citizenship for longtime illegal residents while requiring others to leave the U.S.

Michele Waslin, director of immigration policy at the National Council of La Raza, is hopeful Martinez and his GOP allies will make the right moves.

Is the GOP selling-out the Base with pushing an open border agenda? Does anyone think that the GOP lost the election due to the immigration issue?

  3. you’re right, the American people just will not see what is in front of them. It will take another major attack, maybe at a mall, or something, to get their attention.

And until that happens, the Yanks carry on, at least half of them thinking that the whole kerfuffle is somehow Dubya’s fault. I include the ‘professionals’ in the US Government here, the ones in the CIA and State, the slime in the Repub Congress, the country has not been united behind this war.

I am a Canadian, we have just begun to fight.
