Except for a few exceptions…
WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2007 — – Mimicking the hijackers who executed the Sept. 11 attacks, insurgents reportedly tied to al Qaeda in Iraq considered using student visas to slip terrorists into the United States to orchestrate a new attack on American soil.
Lt. Gen. Michael D. Maples, head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, recently testified that documents captured by coalition forces during a raid of a safe house believed to house Iraqi members of al Qaeda six months ago “revealed [AQI] was planning terrorist operations in the U.S.”
At the time, Maples offered little additional insight into the possible terror plot. ABC News, however, has learned new details of what remains a classified incident that has been dealt with at the highest levels of government.
Watch Pierre Thomas’ full report tonight on “World News with Charles Gibson.”
Sources tell ABC News that the plot may have involved moving between 10 and 20 suspects believed to be affiliated with al Qaeda in Iraq into the United States with student visas — the same method used by the 19 al Qaeda terrorists who struck American targets on Sept. 11.
U.S. officials now require universities to closely track foreign nationals who use student visas to study in the United States. University officials must report international students who fail to arrive on campus or miss class regularly.
In August, the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement alerted intelligence agencies and state and local law enforcement about 11 Egyptian students who had failed to report to their classes at Montana State University. The students were ultimately apprehended.

Course the moonbats will not only dismiss this but will likely blame President Bush for fostering terrorism inside of what was once an paradise. After all according to the Anti War cadre’s, Saddam had nothing to do with Terrorism . He never:
- Told our Ambassador to Iraq in 1990 that if the United State were to interfere with his designs on Kuwait that:
- On July 25, President Saddam Hussein of Iraq summoned the United States Ambassador to Baghdad, April Glaspie If you use pressure, we will deploy pressure and force. We know that you can harm us although we do not threaten you. But we too can harm you. Everyone can cause harm according to their ability and their size. We cannot come all the way to you in the United States, but individual Arabs may reach you.
- Saddam planned and set in motion an assassination attempt on Former President Bush Sr. Using that classic terrorist tool the car bomb. Wrap your head around the fact that a head of state was planning on blowing up a Former President.
- Christopher Dickey from Newsweek was at what he described as a terrorist convention in Baghdad. In his own words: So Islamic radicals from all over the Middle East, Africa and Asia converged on Baghdad to show their solidarity with Iraq in the face of American aggression. Chechens in Persian-lamb hats, Moroccans in caftans, delegates who hailed “from Jakarta to Dakar,” as one Senegalese put it, poured into Baghdad’s Rashid Hotel, where Saddam’s minions urged them to embrace jihad as “the one gate to Paradise.” And the greatest holy warrior of all? “The mujahed Saddam Hussein, who is leading this nation against the nonbelievers,” they were told. “Everyone has a task to do, which is to go against the American state,” declared Saddam’s deputy Ezzat Ibrahim…That was in January 1993. I was there, and every time I hear diplomats and politicians, whether in Washington or the capitals of Europe, declare that Saddam Hussein is a “secular Baathist ideologue” who has nothing to do with Islamists or with terrorist calls to jihad, I think of that afternoon and I wonder what they’re talking about. If that was not a fledgling Qaeda itself at the Rashid convention, it sure was Saddam’s version of it.
- Gave asylum to one of the main terrorists involved in the 1993 attempt to knock down the Towers. Abdul Rahman Yasin was even interviewed by ABC News in Iraq. This man mixed the chemicals that created one of the largest if not the largest truck bomb ever put together. And Saddam gave him and apt and money from what we can tell. No doubt Saddam simply was a charitable sort of guy.
- Saddam funded and ran a terror training camp with a full size Russian passenger jet. When he was asked about it by US Weapons inspectors he declared it to be for training his anti terror squad. Can you imagine the laugh he had about that after that interview? I can see it now…while dumping innocents into a shredder he is laughing with Abdul Rahman Yasin “those silly Americans believe I am training Anti Terrorists they don’t even know that I consider them the terrorists”!
Marines liberating the terror training base at Salmon Pak discovered bomb belts and other tools of the trade for all sorts of “Anti Terror squads”. Can you imagine the tactics? Release those hostages or I will blow myself up!!! I understand the FBI is adopting those tactics.
- Saddam also planned, plotted and funded an attempt to blow up Radio Free Europe. He was thwarted by the vigilance of the Czech Foreign Affairs Department. They expelled the Iraqi Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani after the previous Iraqi in his position inside of Prague defected to the British with the 150,000 dollars in seed money given to them by Saddam for the plot. Undaunted Saddam then sent Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani whose speciality was handling problems for Saddam. Radio Free Europe had become a problem because it was broadcasting inside of Iraq. Co-incidentally this is the same gentlemen who…
- Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani met with Atta in Prague.
Oh that’s right that didn’t happen because Saddam was not linked to terror. After all he was a Sunni and Al Qaeda…wait hold up they are Sunni as well. Hmmm…ok well he was a secular dictator he would have never had anything to do with Al Qaeda because they were religious…course his former right hand thug Izzat Ibrahim Al-Douri shared power with Zarqawi. Matter of fact Al-Douri pledged his allegiance to Al Qaeda and Bin Laden. Hmmm….All Bush’s fault.
If he hadn’t invaded Iraq the Al Qaeda would never had run those planes into those buildings….All Bush’s Fault…just say it over and over again like Dorothy wishing “there is no place like home”.
