We arrest Saddam then hang him and we hold hands with…

Tip Toe Through the Tulips with You...

Isn’t President Bush cute holding hands with a murderer? I believe he even kisses him…wow. Now this happened a good while ago but that doesn’t mean its irrelevant. It was never sufficiently explained. Exactly how can we make the claim that we are against those in Islam who oppress, murder, enslave and otherwise act like 7th Century barbarians then turn around and kiss the leader of perhaps the most immoderate Islamic state on earth? The next three paragraphs are from an earlier post that was widely ignored

This is President Bush in his landmark speech of September 2001: They want to overthrow existing governments in many Muslim countries, such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. They want to drive Israel out of the Middle East. They want to drive Christians and Jews out of vast regions of Asia and Africa.

Was President Bush being ironic? Ok I shouldn’t be flippant, I know he wasn’t being ironic but my gosh exactly how does one condemn the so-called radicals in Islam for wanting to expel Christians and Jews while in the very same breath mention Saudi Arabia and Egypt? Should I remind you, my gentle readers, that both of those nations have laws that restrict the rights of Christians? Indeed in Saudi Arabia merely wearing the cross can get you killed. Wouldn’t it have been at least consistent to have condemned those nations whose actions lead to the same end state as those rascally impatient radicals?

Both want to reach the same nirvana, no Jews or Christians in the world and especially not living next door. One wants to murder us till we are all gone the other being just a touch more rational understands that it might be more prudent to achieve their aims a bit more slowly. Are we merely upset at the so called radicals methods and not their desired end state? Did the Bush administration understand that attacking the end state might implicate a few of our allies?

Which leads us to the Mesopotamian asking the obvious question where does the money come from in Iraq. The question that no one seems to be asking except folks like me…and a few others. Exactly who is financing the “insurgency“? See no matter how many times the “wizards” in the CIA declare that terrorism is no longer state sponsored any thinking person can see how foolish that answer is given the realities. Realities like weapons do not simply produce themselves they must be bought, trained with and repaired. Other realities like shaped charges, troops and suicide bombers simply do not materialize out of thin air. One doesn’t merely scrounge around local caves to find items like that…

So many folks want to believe that terrorists are homegrown and have no state backing, but that is simply not possible. Enter the Mesopotamian.

It follows from the previous point by elementary reasoning (my dear Watson), that there must be a powerful source of external financing for this sustained terrorist campaign that has been going on and escalating for the past four years. Iran and Syria, you might say. Well perhaps, to some extent, but considering the finances of these particular two, the full burden is well beyond their capabilities. Who else can do it? It is not difficult to discover that, if you really look around in the neighborhood.

Until we decide that we are going to cut off the flow of funds, troops, equipment, training and support all the tremendous skills of our soldiers and the stupendous efforts of our allies will come to naught. No matter how brilliant the General or seemingly determined the President you simply cannot allow funding and support to reach the insurgency. We must answer the questions that Mesopotamian asks and then we must deal with those answers.

And no holding hands with a head of state whose hands are covered in blood is not a good way to show how determined you are to stop radical Islam.
