Are you aware that deportable aliens can circumvent immigration laws with the help of your member of Congress? Are you aware that more than 50 bills have been introduced in Congress this year that would grant special, private relief to individual immigrants fighting deportation? It’s instant amnesty through special legislation. And it’s been happening for years under the radar. You know it seems to me that the days of our being able to report items like this have to be numbered. Consider just how brazen this act is and then consider that they used to get away with this sort of behavior all the time. After all who was going to report it? National news? Why? This story is the sort of complicated difficult to prove story that the Government used to be able to simply say didn’t happen and the hapless reporter would be left hanging since he couldn’t hope to show all of his proof quickly enough in the race between credibility, attention span and obscurity.
Well now we can spend as much time as we want and we can show source documents. That is gotta be hurting these folks. After all why become a US Congressman if you cannot hand out the sort of special favors that gets you the big money? And while you may get away with insulting a person, its a lot harder to get away affecting his pocketbook.
You wait…pretty soon they will find ways of silencing the Blogsphere. Their financial livelihoods depends on it. And you never bet against the money.
