Romney says he won’t look Presidential, Rudy says he is undecided…cowards. We are well and truly on our way to a serious ass kicking in 08 if this is the quality of our field. They are afraid of the questions that might come at them from YouTubers? Afraid to face the Public? Oh my. Are they embarrassed by Republican policies? Say it ain’t so.
Now more then ever we need folks at the head of the Republican Party that are not afraid to defend policies like Iraq and the War Against Islamic Totalitarianism. This is not the time to run away from the American People. It is the time to stand up and explain why this war MUST be won. It is time to respond to the Truthers, Anti War Loons and the rest of the surrender crowd.
This is a big mistake. The Democrats are afraid to answer questions from Big Bad Fox News Anchors, and the Republicans are afraid to answer questions from regular people. Which is worse??Hot Air Blog Archive Disaster: GOP may bail on September CNN YouTube debate; Update: Ruffini responds to Hewitt
I guess this behavior might put the kibosh to my idea to empty the White House Press room of Mainstream Reporters and instead have a rotation of citizens properly vetted to ask questions. But I have hope that perhaps one day we might see, instead of old pro’s who parrot each others questions, a collection of folks who work for a living asking the sorts of hard questions that the rest of us want answered. Perhaps Romney would not think it was Presidential to be forced to answer questions posed by the unwashed masses but it might do us all some good. Having seen Romney in action in a small dining room with less than 90 people in it I believe he would do well. He came across in that dining room as honest, earnest and extremely smart.
The Republicans do themselves no favors by appearing to duck the same process that the Democrats just went through. The Democrats did not come through unscathed and I doubt that the Republicans would avoid some damage but how they deal with the damage tells us a lot about how they would govern.
