New Orleans Will Never Be Safe | Ecotality Blog

From Bill Hobbs over at Ecotality…

A bit off topic, but definitely on target. Does it make sense to insist on having a city below sea level on slowly sinking coastal marshland smack in the middle of Hurricane Alley,

Oh fuck off….no really. Don’t go away angry just go away.

Lets just not rebuild most of Florida since they are even more prone to going under water in hurricanes. (ed: well most of it is white…shhh that is why it gets funds) The west coast doesn’t get any funds because they are getting ready to fall off the edge of the earth in a massive earthquake. New York City is gonna be blown into the next dimension by some towel headed fanatic and Global warming is going to kill us all anyway so enough of your gnashing of the teeth skit. Let’s not build anywhere its fucking dangerous…pudding head its dangerous everywhere!

It is just getting so fucking tiresome reading these 30 something’s afraid of their own shadows, want everything perfect sorts of individuals. Shut the fuck up already. We know you are scared, now buy a stuffed animal and go off in the corner and cry yourself to sleep.

Waters wet, sky is blue and the world is unpredictable…get the fuck over it already. Sheesh.

Lets rebuild New Orleans just because we can. Lets rebuild New Orleans because at least one part of this country should have the sort of balls it takes to live there. Lets rebuild New Orleans because the rest of the country doesn’t have a soul…we have enough for all of you whiney little bitches.

Oh and by the way this bit has already been discredited by more credible   people than the chicken little’s running around acting like scientists.

especially if, as some believe, global warming is going to lead to more, and more-intense hurricanes?

Now I am off to take my meds….sorry for the rant.

  1. He is so right! New Orleans lives in the dreams of anyone who has spent any time at all there. My memories are all good. New Orleans has a special ambiance that cannot be duplicated - it must just be in the air. The food, the music, the take it easy life - No matter what, this unique city must be saved - so what the difficulties - if the US Corps of Engineers had built the levees correctly (and not on the cheap) the major flooding would not have taken place - the mess afterward was awful and should not be forgotten by any future planners, but the soul, yes true soul of the city lives on, in the hearts of all those who ever lived there. I hated moving away, and always love going back, even though it breaks my heart to see the devastation. One great bright spot is the work done by Habitat for Humanity (with volunteers from all around the country) but especially the houses built for musicians headed up by Harry Connick and Wyton Marsaliswho come from old families with deep New Orleans roots. The pain and indignity suffered by so many cannot ever be assuaged, but maybe rebuilding this wonderful city will bring people back to the city they love
