Shhh don't tell the warden. Did I mention that the first time I took my wife to the range she out shot me. She downed all 5 of ten steel plates from 25 yards after shooting only three clips practice against paper targets. This was the first time in her life she had ever touched a gun. Guess I should be happy about being such a good teacher. 8-) Was shocked that she had never seen a weapon up close. hehe getting ready to build a SMLE. Shhh don’t tell the warden.

Also at 13 I was in an Army Cadet program where I was also regually firing M-16s, SLRs and GPMGs. My 2 nephews have also learnt to use my firearms both correctly and safely with me by thier side. In my experience the sooner you drill proper weapon handling into kids heads the sooner they become a tool instead of something cool and desirable. Weapon in the car was always loaded and ready to shoot. Only dumb boys play with loaded weapons. This boy was taught to respect weapons from the very beginning. They can learn. You cannot be there to supervise 24 hours a day. Even if they are safely locked away, do you want to advertise to every thief in town that you have expensive guns in your house?
