A third popular Obama "tip" has to do with Raila Odinga, the Kenyan prime minister and former opposition leader who claimed that Obama was a distant cousin.

They come from the same tribe�but that really isn�t important.

The reports surfaced after a political crisis in Kenya in which many international observers believed the vote was stolen from Odinga. As the international community rallied behind the opposition, Obama spoke to Odinga briefly on the telephone.

If Ben Smith is attempting to state that this is the only communication that Obama has had with Odinga then let me introduce Ben Smith to You Tube.

Gee Ben it looks like Odinga and �The Lightworker� are a bit closer than a mere phone call. Looks like they are standing right next to each other. Looks like "The Lightworker� is campaigning for Odinga.

The media has ignored stories about the relationship between the two men because there’s no real evidence that one exists.

Well yea except for the video you see a few lines above this sentence, yea except for that, there is no evidence.

There is evidence that Obama toasted a PLO terrorist in the company of two domestic terrorists but the Los Angeles Times won�t release the tape. So Ben your assertion that the press ignores stories because they don�t exist rings a bit hollow. Or do you not consider the Los Angeles Times the press? If not welcome to the club.

But the story, which comes in many varieties, suggests that Obama campaigned for Odinga and funneled money to his campaign and that they’re close allies.

Well gee I am not a trained Elite Press Guy like Ben Smith so I cannot be sure but it sure likes that video depicts a campaign. And that sure looks like �The Lightworker� in that video is campaigning for Odinga.

In a particularly resonant twist, the story also subjects Odinga to the same sort of rumor that afflicts Obama: that despite Odinga’s professed Christian faith (the Kenyan prime minister is an Anglican), the two men are conspiring to institute Muslim law�in Kenya. Washington Times has a bit about this that maybe a �professional� like Ben Smith has not seen.

Mr. Odinga had the backing of Kenya’s Muslim community heading into the election. For months he denied any ties to Muslim leaders, but fell silent when Sheik Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, appeared on Kenya television displaying a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 29, 2007, by Mr. Odinga and the Muslim leader. Mr. Odinga then denied his denials.

Oops�Wrong again Ben.

The details of the MOU were shocking. In return for Muslim backing, Mr. Odinga promised to impose a number of measures favored by Muslims if he were elected president. Among these were recognition of "Islam as the only true religion," Islamic leaders would have an "oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original]," installation of Shariah courts in every jurisdiction, a ban on Christian preaching, replacement of the police commissioner who "allowed himself to be used by heathens and Zionists," adoption of a women’s dress code, and bans on alcohol and pork.

Gee that sounds like a bad idea�maybe he wasn�t serious?

This was not Mr. Odinga’s first brush with notoriety. Like his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the main opposition leader in the 1960s and 1970s, Raila Odinga is a Marxist He graduated from East Germany’s Magdeburg University in 1970 on a scholarship provided by the East German government. He named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.

Hey no wonder Obama and Odinga got along so royally! Obama loves hanging around with Marxists. Course if Odinga is a Marxist then he most likely uses his Christianity as a cover for his radicalism�hey that’s just like Obama! From Obama�s tome Dreams of My Father�

Raila Odinga was implicated in the bloody coup attempt in 1982 against then-President Daniel Arap Moi, a close ally of the United States. Kenya has been one of the most stable democracies in Africa since the 1960s. The ethnic cleansing earlier this year was the worst violence in Kenya since that 1982 coup attempt.

Change you can believe in! Btw Odinga�s campaign was centered around CHANGE! Hey where have we heard that before?

Mr. Odinga spent eight years in prison. At the time, he denied guilt but later detailed he was a coup leader in his 2006 biography. Statue of limitations precluded further prosecution when the biography appeared. Initially, Mr. Odinga was not the favored opposition candidate to stand in the 2007 election against President Mwai Kibaki, who was seeking his second term. However, he received a tremendous boost when Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Kenya in August 2006 to campaign on his behalf. Mr. Obama denies that supporting Mr. Odinga was the intention of his trip, but his actions and local media reports tell otherwise.
