Ramesh is one of the resident deep thinkers over at the Corner. My goodness there is no better display of the sort of blatant ignorance that has sunk the Republican party than this one sentence?
Isn’t part of the argument for tolerating concentrations of wealth in a free-market society that in one people can amass fortunes only by bringing benefits to the community? Beck and Teddy Roosevelt – Ramesh Ponnuru – The Corner on National Review Online
Since when did the Republican party believe that only approved persons are ALLOWED to amass wealth? Since when does the Republican party believe that the government has some sort of veto power over what happens when people are free? Now I have to ask permission? Now I have to be of some benefit to society?
What if I don’t want to be a benefit to society Ramesh? Do you still feel you have some sort of claim on my fortune if I don’t promise to give it back to the community? What are the approved benefits? Who makes the list?
This is why the Tea Party does not trust establishment voices in either party.
