Yup imagine a world where the Democratic challenger was not so beholden to the unions that run the Government or to big Government itself, imagine a world where Democrats made an issue of President Bush’s weakness in regards to making Departments accountable by firing people when they screw up, imagine President Bush actually going after Bureaucrats like he has been going after terrorists, imagine a world where the Government policed itself.
Ain’t gonna happen, none of it, the 9/11 commission report has so many holes in it that it resembles a High School paper on the threat facing all of us. The Democrats have made their bed on the side of claiming that the War on Terror is overstated and we the people are left with no counterbalance to an administration that is lax in bringing the top executives to account for failures. Laurie Mylroie made the case that the Bureaucracies would do nothing that would endanger their positions, that they would cover up mistakes, and ultimately defend their positions with lies if thats what it takes. Why are free-market Republicans surprised by this sort of ass covering incompetence? If the Government wasn’t capable of this sort of behavior, indeed if it wasn’t actually predisposed to this sort of behavior we might agree more with Big Government Democrats. Welcome to the mad mad world of Bureaucracies.
