More than you will ever want to know about Pierre Legrand.
I am a father of three, who is pessimistic about the future. My country and the world seem to be sliding towards an apocalyptic war between civilizations. This is my feeble attempt to make some sense of it and to perhaps by the addition of my one small voice to the din, make a difference.
No, I do not believe we can avoid this battle since it is not of our choosing but we must win it. I am dedicated to winning it. I do not care whether you are a leftist or objectivist as long as your goal is the defeat of those Islamofacists arrayed against this country. I do not tolerate those who take the counsel of their fears.
Some might ask what my qualifications for this are. None would be the only answer I can honestly give. That I have been debating all of my life probably does not amount to a qualification since it is entirely possible to debate idiots. Witness the US Congress.
My only qualification is my passion to carry the fight to those who would harm my family. 9/11 was a wake up for us all. For me it was a day filled with wondering if my sister had gone to work that day in WTC. (not sure which building) I pray that I leave the world a better place for my children. I fear that I will not and that drives me.
My politics except for a brief bit of insanity when I voted for Jimmy Carter has been guided by my reading of William Buckley, Ayn Rand, and my hero Ronald Reagan. I have no excuse for my vote for Jimmie. Heh. Near the second year of his horrific term in office, I knew that I had made a terrible mistake. It was then that I started searching for answers outside of the mainstream media. National Review saved me.
Then a socialist US Postman with whom I had many terrific debates about the world told me to buy a book he knew I would love, Atlas Shrugged. Wow what a book. While I was reading it about every 20 or so pages I would have a moment where what Ayn was writing would simply resonate to my very core. She gave words to my thoughts.
Eventually I came to disagree with much of what Ayn said simply because she was so stridently against religion. I am a Christian. But her explanations of capitalism have stayed with me since that time as being some of the best explanations of why capitalism was just that I have ever read.
My father taught me to shoot very early in life and I have loved shooting ever since. Currently I own several rifles including a recently purchased M1 Garand that I have not had a chance to shoot yet. My stainless Springfield 1911 .45 GI Model has already figured in a blog post carried by PJ Media.
Stalker-0 Armed Husband-1 Wifey happy with the investment in my .45 and all the training!
I want to thank Charles Johnson and Roger Simon who formed PJ Media which has done so much to help me and other small bloggers like me be heard. Not sure, they understand how thrilling it is to see a link to my stuff appear on PJ Media but I do not take them for granted. Speaking of thrilled the day when I received my first Instapundit link was hilarious as I was running through the house hooting and hollering so much is was probably a bit scary for my wife and kids. Glenn has been gracious enough to link to me twice more since then. Captain Ed over at Captains Quarters has linked to me twice so far; Wizbang was gracious enough to post a complete story of mine. Hugh Hewitt has linked to one of my stories as has Dean Barnett. Front Page Magazine, thanks to Laurie Mylroie, linked to my research into the collaborative work between Saddam and Al Qaeda, which was the reason I started the blog in the first place.
Finally, I want to thank my wife who puts up with my writing till the early morning hours. She has been tremendously supporting of my feeble efforts and the best compliment I get is when she likes something I have written. She does not give out praise lightly.
