Wow what an experience. I grew up handling rifles, handguns and shotguns imagining my whole life that I knew what I was doing. To a certain extent I did as did the other 18 who joined me for a terrific experience in the 90+ heat of Southern Louisiana. But, I quickly realized that Don, the gentle retired physics professor from Kentucky who volunteered to be our instructor, knew a lot more than me and indeed more than the small group of Marines who joined us. We learned about dragging wood, NPOA (Natural Point of Aim), how to use a sling, tighten up groups, breathing, zero sights and in general how to focus on getting hits on the AQT Army Qualification Test from the standing, sitting and prone positions.

Five in the morning my daughter Marlo comes running through the house screaming that its SNOWING. And it sure is, not those little chickenshit snows that sometimes happen down here but heavy fun snow. Naturally the Legrands went outdoors immediatelyheh. Homeschool kids have lots of advantages over the indoctrination clan. So at 5:15 in the morning we are outsidethe girls were outside before that but only as long as it took me to remind them that going outdoors in the snow in their PJs might not be wise. Can you say excited? I know you can. See we dont get snow down here like this very often. Last time we had measurable snow and this measured right around 3 inches, WOW!

Life is to be respected…this little girl’s picture should be hung from every social services wall to remind them of the beauty of life.
Longtime readers will remember Haleigh from two years ago. She was the 11-year-old girl in Massachusetts who had been hospitalized after her stepfather allegedly burned her and beat her nearly to death with a baseball bat. Haleigh, in a coma, was kept alive by a feeding tube and ventilator. Doctors said she was virtually brain dead in a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery. The Massachusetts Department of Social Services wanted to remove Haleighs feeding and breathing tubes. They called her hopeless. They called her condition irreversible.

Gun Control means hitting your target.
Clayton Cramer has made it his task to scour the newspapers looking for reports of the use of weapons in self defense. Its a terrific read and is on my blogline feed. I recommend this blog highly especially to those poor souls who insist to me that I won’t have the time to reach my weapon, while assuring me they will have the time to reach a phone and wait for the police. Sheesh I will reach my gun, stop the invasion, call for pizza and eat it while the other guy is running around his house screaming and spraying mace. Mace, how to really piss off crazy people.
