This will end in tears. The Obama hysteria is not merely embarrassing to witness, it is itself contributory to the scale of the disaster that is coming. What we are experiencing, in the deepening days of a global depression, is the desperate suspension of disbelief by people of intelligence – la trahison des clercs – in a pathetic effort to hypnotise themselves into the delusion that it will be all right on the night. It will not be all right.

We have been here before. In the spring of 1997, to be precise, when a charismatic, young prime minister entered Downing Street, cheered by children bussed in for the occasion waving plastic Union Jacks. A very few of us at that time incurred searing reproaches for denouncing the Great Charlatan (as I have always denominated Tony Blair) and dissenting from the public hysteria. Three times a deluded Britain elected that transparent fraud. Yesterday, when national bankruptcy became a formal reality, we reaped the bitter harvest of the Blair/Brown imposture.

The burnt child, contrary to conventional wisdom, does not fear the fire. After the Blair experience there is no excuse for anybody in Britain falling for Obama. Yet today, in this country, even some of those who remained sane during the emotional spasm of the Diana aberration are pumping the air for Princess Barack. At a time of gross economic and geopolitical instability throughout the Western world, this is beyond irresponsibility.

To anyone who kept his head, the string of Christmas cracker mottoes booming through the public address system on Washington’s National Mall can only excite scepticism. It is crucial to recall the reality that lies behind the rhetoric. Denouncing "those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents" comes ill from a man whose flagship legislation, the Freedom of Choice Act, will impose abortion, including partial-birth abortion, on every state in the Union. It seems the era of Hope is to be inaugurated with a slaughter of the innocents.

Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan is like one of those toxic packages traded by bankers: it camouflages many unaffordable gifts to his client state. With a federal deficit already at $1.2 trillion, Obama wants to squander $825 billion (which will undoubtedly mushroom to more than $1 trillion) on creating 600,000 more government jobs and a further 459,000 in "green energy" (useless wind turbines and other Heath-Robinson contraptions favoured by Beltway environmentalists).

It is frightening to think there is a real possibility that the entire world economy could go into complete meltdown and famine kill millions. Yet Western – and British – commentators are cocooned in a warm comfort zone of infatuation with America’s answer to Neil Kinnock. We should be long past applauding politicians of any hue: they got us into this mess. The best deserve a probationary opportunity to prove themselves, the worst should be in jail.

It is questionable whether the present political system can survive the coming crisis. Whatever the solution, teenage swooning sentimentality over a celebrity cult has no part in it. The most powerful nation on earth is confronting its worst economic crisis under the leadership of its most extremely liberal politician, who has virtually no experience of federal politics. That is not an opportunity but a catastrophe.

John Kerry and John Edwards arrived in Boston today for the Democratic National Convention, so did the california man who is their single biggest contributor. Lewis thinks it is cause for concern. “We can identify who the big donors are, but how much do we really know about any of them?” he said.

In fact, Democratic Party officials said they knew nothing about the man who law enforcement officials tell ABC News is Bing’s friend and business partner Dominic Montemarano , a New York Mafia figure currently in federal prison on racketeering charges. Montemarano has a long criminal record and is known to organized crime investigators by his street name, Donnie Shacks. “Donnie Shacks’ main activity was murder. No question about it. That was his main function for the Colombo family and for organized crime in general. He was one of the top hit men in the New York area,” said Joe Coffey, a former NYPD investigator.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Bing paid Montemarano’s legal fees after his most recent scrape with the law. Montemerano’s lawyer said his client was an employee of Bing’s. After a recent private lunch with Democratic vice-presidential candidate Edwards, Bing also declined to answer questions about his relationship with Montemarano.

“The American people have a right to know who’s funding their presidential candidates and their parties,” Lewis said. “The Bing situation shows us how little we really know.” Throwback to Nixon Days? Campaign reform advocates say the role of secretive big money is all a throwback to the days of Richard Nixon and the scandal that grew out of the 1972 Republican Convention.

Grasping this, our leading politicians engage in a consensual censorship to skip issues that involve distasteful choices or that require deferred gratification. They prefer to assign blame and promise benefits. So elections come and go, there are winners and losers — and our problems fester. There is a group of folks who are supposed to prevent this sort of collusion. Rush calls them the Drive By Media for a reason though. Instead we have a bunch of folks who by and large seem to be rooting for whomever they might be covering and because of this they almost have a stake in “their” candidate winning.

Sickening as it may be, it is an indication of just how shallow we have become as a people. We are getting both the press and the politicians we deserve…

A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser®. According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal, Inc. website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers (video also shown below).

This bracelet would:

• take the place of an airline boarding pass

• contain personal information about the traveler

• be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage

• shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes
The Electronic ID Bracelet, as it’s referred to, would be worn by every traveler “until they disembark the flight at their destination.” Yes, you read that correctly. Every airline passenger would be tracked by a government-funded GPS, containing personal, private and confidential information, and would shock the customer worse than an electronic dog collar if the passenger got out of line. Now this is interesting…Both of these items are from the same AP Article posted on two different sites. Both articles are titled:

Is this common practice? Boy this sure seems dishonest….notice all the information missing? Fox News was not the only one that saw fit to exclude the information. WSJ and others had no problem omitting the death of the latest attempt by the Senate to end run around their voters clear wish to stop illegal immigration.

I guess I won’t suppose that Fox News, WSJ and others omitted this news because they are pro-illegal immigration. Or should I?

Anyways I came upon this after clicking a line at Michelle’s site and noticing that her snippet did not match the snippet posted on the International Herald Tribune’s site. Cannot imagine that the snippet from the IHT site posted on Michelle’s site sprung from her imagination so they must have changed the article after she posted.

Now that it’s clear that Democrats won’t insist on a troop withdrawal timeline, the White House is focusing on making sure the measure doesn’t exceed his request.

The Senate war funding bill combines $194.1 billion in spending over for war funding, foreign aid, military base construction, heating subsidies and a variety of smaller items. Then there’s $14.5 billion to give 13 weeks of unemployment checks to people whose benefits have run out and $51.6 billion over 10 years to improve GI Bill benefits.

There’s $108 billion remaining from Bush’s war funding request for the 2008 budget year ending Sept. 30. But the White House appears willing to lump that request together with $70 billion to carry the war into next spring, as well as Bush’s $5.8 billion request to construct levees in Louisiana.

That puts Bush’s request at $183.8 billion—more than $10 billion below the Senate measure.

The immigrant farm labor provision added to the measure at a hearing last week by Sens Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Larry Craig, R- Idaho, would allow almost 1.4 million immigrant farm workers to stay in the United States for up to five years to ease a shortage of farm workers that has left some crops rotting in the fields.

Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and Judd Gregg, R-N.H., followed that up with a provision to extend an expired program to allow seasonal workers to return to the country using H-2B visas.

Gregg, typically a fiscal conservative, voted with Democrats at last week’s hearing to adopt $1 billion worth of additional energy subsidies for the poor. That provision led top Appropriations panel Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi—himself the driving force behind $1 billion for coastal restoration in Mississippi—to warn his colleagues that they were simply guaranteeing a Bush veto.

Still, Republicans such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas—a member of the Senate GOP leadership team—pressed ahead with add-ons of their own. Hutchison won approval of $100 million in grants to local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border.

It’s the type of situation White House budget director Jim Nussle had in mind last month when he chided senators for a “sky-is-the-limit mind-set” regarding “the desire of some in Congress to load up this troop funding bill with tens of billions in additional spending.”

Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri moved to keep open three “veterans business resource centers” with $600,000 in taxpayer funds. One of the centers, naturally, is in St. Louis; the others were in Flint, Mich., and Boston.

Ted Kennedy Promised This Wouldn’t Happen…Guess He Lied.

In an article in the Los Angeles Times by Gregory Rodriguez, that wasn’t all together ridiculous, this point was made.

But that doesn’t make it right. No matter who wins the presidency, there is one thing we ought to learn from this campaign. In our rapidly diversifying nation, where we are all becoming minorities, the idea that any given group has an inalienable claim on a particular political seat, appointment or office based on demographics has officially outlived its usefulness. 2007: “Now it is time for action. 2007 is the year we must fix our broken system.

That diversity thingy is working out well for Southern California. Iraq, Somalia, Vietnam the list goes on of countries where we have expended much treasure and blood trying to make them something they are not. Perhaps liberal democratic republics cannot be given to folks. If that is the case then maybe it is not such a great idea to be importing in the United States millions of folks who have no idea what we mean when we say law abiding. Law abiding people, people smart enough to understand that mutual respect of the law is the only thing that keeps us away from the visions of disaster that are such a part of those countries south of our border.

Freedom of Speech For Thee Not For Me…

Isn’t this sweet. The Minutemen offered to clean up a stretch of the California Hwy. The State Highway Patrol coincidently offers them a portion of highway near the main border crossing for the vast hordes of illegal’s overrunning our country. Well obviously since the Minutemen are known to be fighting against illegal’s streaming across our borders the illegal’s defenders in California got offended when the Minutemen, like every other group that offers to clean highways, got their sign on the highway thanking them by name. We must not offend the poor dears illegally crossing the borders. So down came the sign.

California assemblywoman Lori Saldana of San Diego said she was considering legislation that would stop the transportation department from accepting new sponsorships until it develops standards governing who qualified to participate in the highway adoption program.

“We want them to say what constitutes a legitimate group,” Saldana said after the hearing. “Do we want these people allowed on a highway near a security checkpoint?” My Way News – Anti-illegal immigration group wants San Diego highway sign

And now naturally California must make a law that says that “certain” groups are not welcome to clean up California Highways. It is A-Ok for illegals to overrun our country, so that rich folk have cheap labor to watch their unwanted children and to keep their lawns mowed, but law abiding Americans are not allowed to speak out against it.

That freedom of speech thingy is such a bothersome bit of law….I am betting they don’t have a lot of that where those illegals come from.

Slip Sliding Away…Slip Sliding Away…you know, the less you defend Freedom of Speech the more it slip slides away.

Depressing when France is more courageous than the United States. But the truth hurts…witness this editor who was fired for publishing the cartoons in the French Newspaper France Soir. We are at war right now and since this is largely an ideological war, words matter. The ability to speak freely matters. Here is Flemming Rose commenting on the failure of the American Press to publish the cartoons in solidarity with the fight to keep speech free.

“It reads on the top of the New York Times, ‘All the News That’s Fit to Print,’ but it’s very hard to argue that this was not news on February 1, 2006,” the culture editor of Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten, Flemming Rose, said Wednesday night during a speech at Stanford University. Most American newspapers did not publish the cartoons, which include images of Muhammad with a bomb in his turban and of suicide bombers being greeted by the Muslim prophet in heaven.

“Europe has usually been criticized for being politically correct and on the defense when it comes to Islam, but more European newspapers published the cartoons,” he said. “We might not have had the kind of ongoing crisis if more newspapers around the world would have published the cartoons at the same time because by doing so you would have drawn a clear line. … Instead, it was pretty unclear what people in liberal democracies thought of this issue.” Cartoon Editor Disillusioned With U.S. Press | The New York Sun

Our press grievously failed to live up to their responsibility of being the guardians of free speech. By appeasing the easily offended muslims they have ceded ground in our fight that we will not get back. We should have published those cartoons. Weasel little nothings like James David Dickson editor of The Michigan Review making sorry excuses for not living up to his responsibility did us no favors. Witness this poor excuse for failure and notice that it is the National Review that gives him a stage to embarrass himself. Did they agree with his stance?

The Danish cartoons arose from a desire to combat European self-censorship, but the almost-uniform refusal of American editors to reprint the cartoons speaks to the extent to which our press truly is free. In the case of The Michigan Review, this meant freedom from the sophomoric, macho impulse to offend for the sake of it, as if to pretend that discretion isn’t the better part of valor. Americans self-censor because we don’t see the need to offend; Europeans self-censor because they fear an Islamic backlash. The Danes profane the prophet Mohammed to include Muslims in their culture; we don’t profane Mohammed because, frankly, we wouldn’t do it to anyone else.

Absolutely incredible. This twit exercises his freedom by avoiding confrontation with those who would steal it away.

I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with this one. Given the facts that the vendor was selling falafel and that he mentioned 74 lashes (a popular punishment for sodomy in Iran), there is a good chance he is a practicing member of the Islamic faith.
While I like to think that all minority groups are special and equal, the plain truth is that his minority group is more special than yours. A very few, radical members of his minority group are easily upset and have been known to commit acts of violence and murder when they are riled. As your minority group, the LGBT community, generally buys new curtains when upset, I’m going to have to side with the Islamists on this issue. I don’t want my head cut off.

After all if Obama was white he would have been laughed out of the house for making up that much baloney to excuse his alliance with the Right Reverend Wright. Obama made an alliance with this clown to “reach” out and gather street cred to make a run for office back in the day. Because back in the day the Right Reverend Wright was not as radical as he is now. And besides if he was radical and is radical now whose fault is it??? Well it’s white man’s fault and the way to heal that is for the white man to understand that we are to blame and we need to PAY. I am guessing that won’t play very well with in the fly over states. May not play well with all the blue dogs either. Oh baby please let Obama win the nomination. If we lose to that collection of leftist cliche’s we deserve anything that happens.

Michelle keeps us updated on definitions. As conservatives we need to make sure that we don’t uphold the “truths” the Drive By’s try to foist upon us. It is a “truth” to the Drive By media that to Swift Boat someone is to lie about them. False. I was right in the middle of the Swift Boat expose and there were no lies…just determined men exposing a corrupt and cowardly Democrat who had shit on them so many years ago during Vietnam.

A reminder to conservatives: Swift-Boating does not equal smearing.

We Need Some New Republicans…A Letter to Senator Dole is Exhibit A on Why!

The establishment Republicans have gone astray. I never knew that Senator Dole took part in saving Lincoln Chafee’s seat in the Senate. Certainly had no idea that she spent money I donated to Republican National Committee to save that knucklehead. Well now those chickens have come home to roost. Lets get some new Republicans who act upon the principles that those of us who pay the bills believe in.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to you for dedicating nearly $2 million of the NRSC�s resources to Linc Chafee�s reelection campaign in 20006 when you were the NRSC�s chairwoman. It is certain that the New York Times does not see the irony of this article about the fallacies regarding the effects of fat in our diet, in the face of its continued panic mongering regarding Global Warming. But the article positively bristles with arguments against the idiocy of the lemmings worrying about Global Warming. HT Instapundit For instance:

Oh and lest I forget Hillary is likely to agree to taxing the United States out of existence to mollify those on the planet who blame us for creating poverty around the world. Or for the more rational ones, which doesn’t mean they are rational, who believe that we don’t do enough to fix this sort of poverty.

Somehow the prospect of reaching equilibrium with this poor soul who probably uses around 2 tons doesn’t strike me as attractive.

If the Democrats win the Presidency in 2008 more Censorship is on the way….

MoveOn.org has successfully shut down someone parodying their organization. That should worry everyone since once the precedence is set it will also be ok for the right to shut down the left when we get power back. Good for the goose good for the gander.

But liberals are so desperate for power that they are willing to shut down political speech hmmm. Makes you wonder what they have in store for us should they gain the Presidency? So far talk shows and blogs have bedeviled them. I predict some serious attempts to shut down both of these mediums. How they go about it is not clear but that they will is obvious.

If we lose in 2008 we can expect some very dark years ahead. One need only look at Europe where the right has been completely discredited. The debate in Europe is no debate but a discussion between various left-wing outfits trying to decide who to screw next. That, I believe, is directly attributable to the lack of free speech in Europe. We must fight back in the US.

CAIR fresh from intimidating PACE UNIVERSITY tries same shtick on Young America’s Foundation…oops.

Hate to spoil the punch line but this is a classic American response to asswipes like CAIR. Cooper the mouthpiece of CAIR was on last night trying to debate Christopher Hitchens with predictable results. What stood out though was Cooper assertion that they, CAIR, respected the 1st Amendment. Yea as long as you agree with them.

But the Young America’s Foundation stood up and got counted as patriots. Damn if only our politicians stood up as well.

?CAIR can go to Hell and they can take their 72 virgins with them.?

Hot Air has the details on CAIR?s latest attempt to force Americans to submit to their radical Islamic agenda, as they threaten the Young America?s Foundation with legal action if they allow an event featuring Robert Spencer to take place.

Back in March, California decided that after years of negative publicity about the security of e-voting machines (and certainly enough evidence to suggest they weren’t very secure) that it would allow independent security experts to try to hack into any machine before it got approval to be used in California elections. Those researchers have gone ahead and found that every machine they tested was hackable — often very easily.

Time to stand up America…not to insult Muslims but to defend our First Amendment Rights!

The government will cave to those Radical Muslims who are trying to silence everyone. In Europe they are well on the way to silencing the entire population, no one will be allowed to make any criticism of Islam. Only the Danes have any balls left in Europe are we going to go the same way? Quietly?

We do this not to insult Muslims individually but to make a point that our First Amendment rights are more important than any book, no matter how holy.

While I was standing around wondering how to organize a nationwide day of disobedience, where we would all at the same time desecrate the Koran,

So then it is A-Ok to put Jesus into a Vat of Piss, it is ok to burn the flag, but put a Koran into a toilet to protest Pace University’s dhimmitude and all of a sudden we have a hate crime.

Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, both hate crimes, police said. It was unclear if he was a student at the school. A message left at the Shmulevich home was not immediately returned. The Islamic holy book was found in a toilet at Pace’s lower Manhattan campus by a teacher on Oct. 13. A student discovered another book in a toilet on Nov. 21, police said. Muslim activists had called on Pace University to crack down on hate crimes after the incidents. As a result, the university said it would offer sensitivity training to its students.
