Climate Skeptic asks the essential question…

Both major presidential candidates have endorsed CO2 abatement targets for the US, with Obama advocating for the most stringent — the “20 by 50″ target by which the US would reduce CO2 emissions by 80% in the next 40 years.

Given that they support such targets, the candidates’ public positions on gasoline prices should be something like this:

Yeah, I know that $4 gas is painful.  But do you know what?  Gas prices are going to have to go a LOT higher for us to achieve the CO2 abatement targets I am proposing, so suck it up.  Just to give you a sense of scale, the Europeans pay nearly twice as much as we do for gas, and even at those levels, they are orders of magnitude short of the CO2 abatement I have committed us to achieve.  Since late 2006, gas prices in this country have doubled, and demand has fallen by perhaps 5%.  That will probably improve over time as people buy new cars and change behaviors, but it may well require gasoline prices north of $20 a gallon before we meet the CO2 goal I have adopted.  So get ready. Things must be getting desperate on the "Global Warming Caused by Humanoids" front…now Eco Freaks are advocating putting folks in jail who disagree with Global Warming Eco Freaks. Nice…the ovens are right down this path!

Look at the bright side…when we win we can start putting those freaks into Jail! Perhaps we can even prosecute them for the murders of the perhaps thousands of people who would have lived if the Eco Freaks Freaky policies would have NOT been enacted? Sheesh think how fun it would be to watch that fat blubbering stack of shit, formerly known as our Vice President, the Right Reverend Gore of the Church of Eco Freakery, be carted off to life imprisonment.

Dr. James Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, sounded the alarm about global warming in testimony before a Senate subcommittee exactly 20 years ago.

Good to know that “scientists” like him are in “charge” of our tax dollars…open minded and all! No wonder we are dying under a mountain of public debt with clowns like this running the show.

He returned to the topic Monday with a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., given to the Worldwatch Institute.

“Special interests have blocked the transition to our renewable energy future,” Hansen writes in an opinion piece posted on the institute’s Web site. “Instead of moving heavily into renewable energies, fossil fuel companies choose to spread doubt about global warming, just as tobacco companies discredited the link between smoking and cancer. Methods are sophisticated, including funding to help shape school textbook discussions of global warming.”

Ah ha…so anything that runs counter to the conventional wisdom is dismissed as simple propaganda from those “EVIL” oil corporations…exactly how long will that shtick keep working?

But as always…What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. What is a terrible shame is that once these freaks get discredited the legitimate conservationists may be painted with the same brush. 

It is unseemly to me to drive cars bigger than what your family needs. Like showing off I guess and showing off has always been bad taste.

The NRO Corner lost it’s way a long time ago. When the Corner united against Coulter’s remarks after 9/11 one had to worry that in the Corner we didn’t have actual conservatives but folks who make money playing one.

But I don’t understand the pile on at The Corner.

McCain gave a serious talk that centered on the war, and especially on the point that if Obama had been in charge, we’d have lost by now and incredible chaos and perhaps genocide would be unfolding in that country. While countries from around the world drill just 75 miles off all of our shores we are too self righteous to do so ourselves. There is an answer and Anchoress is on to it. Vote the bastards out.

Here are some links that just make me tingly all over. Some in Congress get it…witness U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick a REPUBLICAN btw. She has re-introduced a bill that would open up drilling offshore. It is such a sensible idea that even the dumbass Chinese are doing it. But the same exact bill by U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick was defeated in 2006.

The moratoriums prohibit energy development on the OCS in waters from three miles off our coastlines, where State-owned waters end and federal waters begin, to waters beyond 200 miles off the coasts

· A 2006 Department of Interior study of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) estimated reserves of 8.5 billion barrels of oil and 29.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas

· Another 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas are classified as undiscovered resources

The United States is the only developed nation in the world that forbids energy production on its OCS—Cuba is allowing other countries, like China, to drill for oil close to 50 miles off the coast of Florida, while America sits with its hands tied

Well isn’t that peachy….it is not as if the politicians don’t know where this will all end.

And it is not as if we the people don’t want to drill…polls show we do.

This line stands out because Republicans are actually trying this…vote for McCain because he is better than that Radical Nutjob Obama. Whats worse is they are right. As awful as McCain is he is worlds better than Obama. Oh mama how did we get here!

For example, the latest 2006 Townsburgh Gazette Poll indicates that many of you are dissatisfied with the war in Iraq.   As a longtime voice of opposition to the Bush administration on the war, especially the parts that aren’t going well, I have organized a special select committee to investigate and fix blame, and set a timetable for withdrawal tied to tracking poll benchmarks.

Tigerhawk explains the correct way to look at energy and our use of it. I only want to add that if you are a liar you tend to view everyone else as liars. If you are a thief you tend to view others as thieves. Since the left makes it’s living as thieves of the labor of others it colors their entire world view. We will never convince them that there might be other explanations for wealth. They simply cannot conceive that wealth is created by working for it, it is so much easier to steal it. You can spot them in schools because they are the ones cheating.

But most peoples of the world (including American leftists) do not understand this — which is why they do not invent anything important — and instead view American wealth as if it were looted, rather than created. Obviously if as a United States Congressmen you are NOT willing to stop illegal immigration you should make damn sure that no pesky state or local officials go around you and take care of the problem themselves. More obviously if you are a hopelessly stupid political party getting its ass handed to it in every single goddamn election held you should GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO PISS ON YOUR BASE. Naturally. So that explains these 29 clowns wearing the Republican badge sponsoring legislation to take away States rights to police up a problem they refuse to face. After all when you aren’t collecting much money from your base because you have foot tapped your way into hell then corporations like Tyson Foods and Mohawk Fabrics who employ thousands of illegal’s are your only hope. So you better please them by trying to pass this shitty legislation. Take a good look at the wording of this…

(b) Enhancement of Federal Preemption Standards- Section 274A(h)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1324a(h)(2)) is amended to read as follows:

    `(2) PREEMPTION; NO NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD-

      `(A) PREEMPTION- The provisions of this section preempt any provision of any law of any State or political subdivision thereof or any contract entered into by any State or political subdivision thereof which–

        `(i) imposes civil or criminal sanctions upon employers for actions governed by the Act;

        `(ii) requires, authorizes or permits a system of verification of the immigration status of employees or employment applicants;

        `(iii) requires, authorizes, or permits the use of a federally mandated employment verification system for any other purpose other than that required by Federal law, including verifying status of renters, determining eligibility for receipt of benefits, enrollment in school, obtaining or retaining a business or other license provided by the unit of government, or conducting a background check; or

        `(iv) requires or prohibits the use of an immigration status employment verification system for any purpose, except as required by Federal law, including without limitation, such purposes as–

          `(I) a condition of receiving a government contract;

          `(II) a condition of receiving a business license; or

          `(III) the basis of assessing a penalty.

Even liberals like New Yorkers didn’t think that was a great idea. Some of them have claimed that the election in Mississippi proved that being tough on illegal’s was a losing strategy. Not sure how they can claim this with a straight face given that the positions of the candidates were so similar that even the RHINO wag making this absurd claim had to admit it.

I can tell you that at this point I don’t even look at Republican efforts at fundraising. I just toss them into the garbage…I hope they are getting enough money from those border jumpers to make up the difference!

He blames Wall Street for coming up with dumb ass laws that forced financial companies to make loans to favored groups we knew couldn’t pay back the money? Then when those same groups, that everyone KNEW couldn’t pay back their mortgages, didn’t, the US Congress blamed the ones they forced to do the stupid. Guess someone who comes from the most elitist club of them all, the US Senate, is not likely to blame his group of cronies in the US Congress.

The left, bless their black little hearts, have never thought much of middle classes. That opinion underlies all of their philosophy. Indeed it is appealing, is it not, to consider that you are smarter than everyone you know, backseat drivers unite!…course the sane among us realize otherwise. The left, the mother of all backseat drivers.

Matter of fact the left has believed that you can indeed fool all of the people all of the time. Aren’t they cute? And who is cuter than the cutest of them all Barak Hussein Obama? Lookee here where Obama actually has the audacity to imagine that us rubes won’t know that “progressive” is just another word for really far left moonbat? In this interview he claims he is NOT a liberal…he is a progressive. Hmm…my mama didn’t raise no fool Hussein.

He said he was a progressive and a pragmatist, eager to tackle the big issues like health care and convinced that the Democrats could rally independents and disaffected Republicans to their agenda. Obama’s promise of a new majority, and the question it prompts - International Herald Tribune

Thank goodness that the Democrats are buying into this classic demagogues bullshit. Had they run a centrist candidate not out on the lunatic fringes they might have actually won the Presidency this year. Hell even Lieberman would have crushed McCain. You go girls.

Warming Stopped 10 Years Ago? Nothing to see here, move along!

Just this week we found out in this post that the Oceans were not warming, indeed there was a slight cooling (you might think that would get mentioned now and again) going on. Now we find out that a satellite we sent up in 2002 is turning over many of the premises scientists thought they knew about our climate models. And not only that but other signs indicate that our temperatures have not gone up for the last ten years that indeed again there had been a slight cooling. Hmm you might think that would get mentioned now and again? Hat tip Glenn Reynolds. Don’t miss the part at the end of this post that I have highlighted in red and bold and underlined…it is outrageous.

She replied: “No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you’d expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years.”

Oops Storyline of Global Warming Freaks Shredding on the Reality of Our Ignorance

Thanks to Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit for this link. Not mentioned at the link from Glenn is this little bombshell of information. NPR at least deserves some credit for publishing this strike against the Chicken Little’s who find any evidence of global cooling, evidence of Global Warming. But you would think that the fact they are finding a small amount of global cooling would be pretty big news. Maybe the Global Warming Hoax is less about saving us from a disaster than it is about plain old money? Even scientists need money and when governments get the bit between their teeth no one gives out more. So if the Government says find something…you find it.

“There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant,” Willis says. So the buildup of heat on Earth may be on a brief hiatus. “Global warming doesn’t mean every year will be warmer than the last. Holy Smoke! The Ultimate Smoking Gun Against McCain! Jack Wheeler, President Reagan’s Fixer to the Rescue! UPDATED: I CALL BULLSHIT TO THIS ARTICLE UNLESS WHEELER CAN BACK IT UP!

UPDATED: After talking to Jack Wheeler tonight on Blog Radio. I believe that his hatred of McCain has him forgetting that stories of this magnitude need to be backed up with facts. While on the radio I kept thinking to myself, oh my goodness, I am actually taking someone seriously whose source is some mysterious Russian (aren’t they all?) figure whose code name is “Mr. T”??? 

There are plenty of reasons to defeat McCain and Wheelers article touches on a few but the big part of this story is a fantasy unless Wheeler can back it up. And no I don’t buy the crap about a few Congressmen being scared of standing up to McCain. I call bullshit to that fantasy. If it is not then they should stand up, unless Honor means nothing to them.

I feel dirty for posting this bullshit but my rules say I cannot take a post down. It has to stand as testament to my occasional stupidity. How embarrassing.
