Wow what an experience. I grew up handling rifles, handguns and shotguns imagining my whole life that I knew what I was doing. To a certain extent I did as did the other 18 who joined me for a terrific experience in the 90+ heat of Southern Louisiana. But, I quickly realized that Don, the gentle retired physics professor from Kentucky who volunteered to be our instructor, knew a lot more than me and indeed more than the small group of Marines who joined us. We learned about dragging wood, NPOA (Natural Point of Aim), how to use a sling, tighten up groups, breathing, zero sights and in general how to focus on getting hits on the AQT Army Qualification Test from the standing, sitting and prone positions.

Nice to see at least one black leader who is a little shocked about the rate of violence inside of black neighborhoods. What is simply pitiful about these facts is that until we address them as a society we will never correct the issue and blacks will continue living in the most dangerous sorts of conditions in this country. Blacks are 7 times more likely to die of murder. Let that settle in the next time you are feeling a little bit antsy in a situation. The violence in some of the neighborhoods is beyond our comprehension. But folks like Obama will never fix it, since they will spend their time worrying about the wrong problem. Like a doctor who allows you to die of a heart failure while he cures your ingrown toenail.
