Saddam and Al Qaeda Sitting in a Tree…of course they had a Collaborative Relationship, duh.

Time to remember why we went to war again since the Bush Administration cannot be bothered to make the case.

This was published as a blog post to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of 9/11. It is time to remember why we are fighting in Iraq.

Why did I make this list of Saddam’s Connections and Collaborations with Al Qaeda?

U.S. Confirms Israeli Strikes Hit Syrian Targets…Saddam’s Nuclear Program Found?

You know I remember reports circulating that claimed Saddam’s nuclear goods such as they were had been moved to Syria. Those reports were squashed by an unlikely set of allies, anti war freaks and various intelligence sources who obviously didn’t want their respective agencies blamed for the loss. When you stop to think about who had anything to gain from finding Saddam’s weapons program in Syria the list is awfully short and doesn’t include anyone in the Government. We might have expected patriotic Democrats to highlight this administrations failure to stop the very action we went to war to prevent but on one hand most Democrats have thrown their lot in with MoveOn and the rest are laying low.

Candidate Bush on Nation Building and Can Islam and Freedom survive one another?

Democracy as a solution to terror.

Here is candidate Bush discussing nation building during a debate with Gore in 2000.

I don’t think so. I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I’m missing something here. I mean, we’re going to have kind of a nation building core from America? Absolutely not. Our military is meant to fight and win war. That’s what it’s meant to do. And when it gets overextended, morale drops.

Oopsy looks like the rational state of N. Korea just became a Nuclear Power…containment working great!

Edited to remove vulgarity…blood pressure returned to normal this morning.

UPDATED: Dean Barnett has some thoughts that deserve a read.

Well gee not sure why anyone would be upset by this latest development. It’s not like North Korea would ever sell its nuclear weapons to any terrorists. Because no doubt if they did and a terrorist detonated it in Manhattan we would nuke N. Korea. Yea that’s exactly what we would do. No doubt all the terrorists and N. Korea are real impressed with our threats so far. But you say man oh man we would be a lot more serious if someone detonated a Nuke.

Japan strikes a note of common sense…oh my

Knowing that I don’t travel in the rarefied world of the State Department let me simply wonder about an observation regarding our reaction to North Korea. Hypothetical, so then if I go stand on the corner and start shooting in the general direction of my neighbor is that a sign for him to start negotiating with me to stop or a sign for him to pull out his ArmaLite .308 and put a 168gr boat tail bullet square between my eyes? Is my neighbor more or less likely to consider that boat tail if for the last 60 years every single master of my household has been battier than a cave full of bats? Further if after bouts of shooting in his general direction I start throwing firebombs which either he intercepts or they land short does he then intensify his negotiating attempts? Someone please clue me in because what we are doing right now makes zero sense.Economists posit that if you want more of a behavior, reward it, so it follows that we must want more battier heads of state hurling threats and worse our way since we are looking like we are going to reward it. You know offering the North Koreans trade if they will simply stop acting crazy. Didn’nt Clinton try that? How successful were his foreign policy decisions?

If those NK Missiles were aimed at Hawaii and they weren’t shot down we need to fire someone…

It has been accepted wisdom, since the fireworks display of Kim Jong IL this past 4th of July, that the missiles were not shot down but failed due to malfunction. Perhaps this is so. But if this “wisdom” is correct and our military was not at least preparing to shoot the missiles down then we need to fire someone. After all the money we spent on Anti Missile Defense, money that I am happy to spend btw, if they weren’t at least attempting to shoot down missiles headed towards Hawaii then we have deeper problems than mere systems failing. We have a failure of will.Furthermore I don’t happen to see any reason why the Bush administration would trumpet any successes with Missile Defense relating to those launches. He knows he can win the legislative battles without exposing our programs to publicity which might compromise their effectiveness. We can see how serious a threat we face from rogue nations given the target for the missiles. That fact by itself is enough to sell the system to everyone but the left and nothing short of a missile landing on top of the NYT building will sell it to them. So the fact that the military is denying they shot the missiles down does not mean what some think it does.
