Washington Post almost gets it all right…they came "that" close! But the snippet of a paragraph below is plainly false. Surprised that Instapundit Didn’t see the Error.

Perhaps it is just a coincidence that prices started falling as soon as there was serious talk in Washington to get rid of the moratorium on drilling. I mean it is possible that it is just a coincidence that the free fall in oil prices just sort of happened after Bush lifted   the Presidential Ban on drilling.

Contrary to the baldly political suggestions regarding lower gasoline prices by President Bush and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), drilling would make no impact on today’s pain at the pump because it would be years before any oil flowed from the Outer Continental Shelf. We agree that the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, with its varied and sensitive ecosystems, should be preserved. In the quest for new sources of energy, there are trade-offs. That pristine area must remain off-limits. But there are three “truths” masquerading as fact among drilling opponents that need to be challenged: ‘Snake Oil’ - washingtonpost.com  

Or maybe those evil speculators that Democrats and ignorant Republicans love to demonize know something that the Washington Post doesn’t. Maybe they know that the tide is turning on easing future supplies. Brazil in the last 28 years has gone from 1.5 billion barrels of reserves to 12 billion in 2007 and in the last year they have discovered enough oil to put them over 20 billion barrels of reserves.

In that same time we have been assured by the Democrats and some Republicans that we shouldn’t be drilling because it would take “years” to get the oil to market.

Peak Oil anyone? Do the peak oil folks realize that we have only explored approximately 6% of the Continental Shelf according to a talk given in Baton Rouge by Senator Mary Landrieu?

Does saying "Inflating Their Tires" and "Let Them Eat Cake" come from the same spot in an Elites brain?

The Republican members of the United States House of Representatives went on the attack yesterday and it is not a moment too soon. This is a winning issue. All of us are getting beat around at the pumps and the elite of Washington thumbed their noses as us and told us to in effect EAT CAKE.

Obama says that if we would just inflate our tires and get regular tune ups that we would save as much oil as all the oil that is promised by drilling…hmmm. Hey what about this? What about we inflate our tires, get Hollywood types like Paris and Al Gore out of SUV’S and Private Jets, get regular tune ups AND drill? Weeeeeee…..that will stick it to Chavez and the Terrorists masquerading as Sheiks.

The Election Issue Of All Election Issues: Drilling Ban Expires Oct 1

Yesterday, the fine folks over at Americans for Prosperity alerted me to the fact that the election issue of all election issues has been dumped into the GOP’s lap.

You see, on October 1st, 2008, “the existing bans on Outer Continental Shelf drilling and oil shale leasing expire — unless Congress specifically votes to extend the bans.”

What will likely happen, according to AFP is that “Congressional leaders will likely try to sneak an extension into supposedly ‘must-pass’ last-minute spending legislation.”

Republicans, including most importantly, John McCain, should refuse to support ANY legislation that extends the drilling ban. That means they should speak out against it, they should vote against it, and George Bush should veto it if it comes across his desk.Right Wing News (Conservative News and Views)

The staid conservative republicans are using the newest sort of media to take the fight right to the Democrats.  The issue is the Republicans and many conservative Democrats want a VOTE on DRILLING! The liberal Democrats in charge of the House adjorned the Congress, turned out the lights and have used the Capital Police to deny access to the Press so that the American people won’t see this revolt by the sensible folks in the House! AWESOME!

Things must be getting desperate on the "Global Warming Caused by Humanoids" front…now Eco Freaks are advocating putting folks in jail who disagree with Global Warming Eco Freaks. Nice…the ovens are right down this path!

Look at the bright side…when we win we can start putting those freaks into Jail! Perhaps we can even prosecute them for the murders of the perhaps thousands of people who would have lived if the Eco Freaks Freaky policies would have NOT been enacted? Sheesh think how fun it would be to watch that fat blubbering stack of shit, formerly known as our Vice President, the Right Reverend Gore of the Church of Eco Freakery, be carted off to life imprisonment.

Dr. James Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, sounded the alarm about global warming in testimony before a Senate subcommittee exactly 20 years ago 0.

Good to know that “scientists” like him are in “charge” of our tax dollars…open minded and all! No wonder we are dying under a mountain of public debt with clowns like this running the show.

He returned to the topic Monday with a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., given to the Worldwatch   Institute.

“Special interests have blocked the transition to our renewable energy future,” Hansen writes in an opinion piece posted on the institute’s Web site. “Instead of moving heavily into renewable energies, fossil fuel companies 2 choose to spread doubt about global warming, just as tobacco companies discredited the link between smoking and cancer. Methods are sophisticated, including funding to help shape school textbook discussions of global warming.”

Ah ha…so anything that runs counter to the conventional wisdom is dismissed as simple propaganda from those “EVIL” oil corporations…exactly how long will that shtick keep working?

Arrest them!!!! The Eco-Freaks Cultural Revolution begins in earnest as they get bold enough to declare such absurdities in public.

But as always…What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. What is a terrible shame is that once these freaks get discredited the legitimate conservationists may be painted with the same brush. 

It is unseemly to me to drive cars bigger than what your family needs. Like showing off I guess and showing off has always been bad taste.

Oil? Nope no oil in ANWAR, none in the Gulf of Mexico, nope none off the coast of California…Politicians and Bureaucrats to the People GO SUCK AN EGG!

While countries from around the world drill just 75 miles off all of our shores we are too self righteous to do so ourselves. There is an answer and Anchoress is on to it. Vote the bastards out.

Holding your own countrymen hostage to foreign oil while also refusing to allow nuclear energy…it’s not leadership. It is the opposite of leadership. And it’s un-American, too.

Signing petitions is all well and good  , but I begin to think that the only way congress will ever take action is if they get hurt.

Here are some links that just make me tingly all over. Some in Congress get it…witness U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick a REPUBLICAN btw. She has re-introduced a bill that would open up drilling offshore  . It is such a sensible idea that even the dumbass Chinese are doing it. But the same exact bill by U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick was defeated in 2006.

The moratoriums prohibit energy development on the OCS in waters from three miles off our coastlines, where State-owned waters end and federal waters begin, to waters beyond 200 miles off the coasts

· A 2006 Department of Interior study of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) estimated reserves of 8.5 billion barrels of oil and 29.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas

· Another 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas are classified as undiscovered resources

The United States is the only developed nation in the world that forbids energy production on its OCS—Cuba is allowing other countries, like China, to drill for oil close to 50 miles off the coast of Florida, while America sits with its hands tied

Well isn’t that peachy….it is not as if the politicians don’t know where this will all end.  

And it is not as if we the people don’t want to drill…polls show we do. 1
