8 states see record unemployment rates in May

WASHINGTON (AP) — The unemployment rates in eight states hit record-highs last month and only two — Nebraska and Vermont — did not report increases.

The Labor Department says 48 states and the District of Columbia saw employment conditions deteriorate last month. Hey, What If Canada �Lost� Tens of Millions of Dollars From Their National Mint? And What If Other National Vaults Were Just A Mite Short of Where They Say They Are In Gold Deposits? What Then?

Gee, is it only one set of crooks taking the entire world to the cleaners or is it Open Season on the common folk? First we have all that money that �evaporated� in the Banking/Mortgage/Government scandal and then we had the Japanese guys smuggling 134 BILLION DOLLARS IN US BONDS�now someone �stole� tens of millions of dollars in Gold. For the record at a price of $950 an ounce that amounts to 1973.7 pounds of Gold. Not something you can stick in your pants as you are clocking out at night.

Mounties to probe Canada’s missing gold

OTTAWA (AFP) � The Canadian government is investigating the disappearance of an amount of gold and precious metals from the Royal Canadian Mint and has asked the federal police to probe a possible heist.

Minister of State for Transport Rob Merrifield said Tuesday he called in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to conduct a “full investigation.”
External auditors had been ordered to investigate a discrepancy between the mint’s 2008 financial accounting of its precious metal holdings and its actual stockpile. Many had expected the audit would point to sloppy bookkeeping.

The investigation was ordered after mint officials said the audit would not be able to reconcile the discrepancy.
“As soon as they instructed me this morning that it looked like the audit wasn’t going to tell us everything we need to know and be able to rectify the numbers, I thought it was important to bring the RCMP in,” Merrifield said.
But he declined to say how much gold, silver or other precious metals were unaccounted for.
Opposition parties, however, criticized the government for the mint’s possible loss of tens of millions of dollars worth of gold.

“How is it conceivable that we can lose tens of millions of dollars in gold from the Royal Canadian Mint, and nobody notices until they finally start calling the accountants,” said opposition New Democrat MP Thomas Mulcair.

“If they can’t even hold onto the gold in the Mint, what are they capable of doing?” he said, adding: “It now appears that it’s gone beyond bad accounting.”

Contrarian Profits reports that the Canadian Mint’s present problems are not unique.

German Chancellor Merkel Speaks Out Against the Fed’s Policy of Loose Money…WOW! A Leader Speaks The Truth?

German Chancellor Merkel spoke out against the policy of the Central Banks of the United States (Federal Reserve), Great Britain and the EU. When a German Chancellor speaks out against the policies of the Central Bank�s of the world we would be wise to listen.

Aides say Ms Merkel’s concern about the expanding remits of the Fed and the Bank of England is genuine. She does not blame the implosion of the subprime mortgage market for the economic crisis. She does not see securitisation as the culprit. Rather, she thinks the loosening of monetary policy under Alan Greenspan’s Fed chairmanship fuelled the creation of asset price bubbles and encouraged excessive leverage within and beyond the financial sector.

This risky policy, she thinks, was supported by a US government that also rejected any calls – including from Germany when Berlin was chairing the Group of Eight industrial nations in 2007 – for tighter regulation of financial markets. Ms Merkel "sees the huge amounts of liquidity being pumped into financial systems with some concern. She is worried that some of the unconventional action being deployed by central banks cannot be easily reversed," says one confidant. "We do not want to be fuelling a new bubble. Why is she so worried about loosening of the monetary policy under the Fed? INFLATION! The Germans have an intimate knowledge of what happens when inflation ravages a country.

The Fed�s actions are driven by exactly the same sort of short range thinking that has destroyed specific sectors of the US economy. GM signs a labor agreement 50 years ago because they didn�t wonder what might happen down the road if they had some rough spots. And now a 100 year old company is taken over by the Government. Short Range Thinking�will be the death of us.

Sometimes you simply have to accept some pain to avoid the death blow. GM should have said no then and dealt with the inevitable strikes then and they would be alive now. We should have never allowed the Government to remove the shackles we had around it in the form of our currency being backed by gold. At the point we allowed that, it was irresistible that the Government would inflate its way out of debts�and one day destroy this country. We as a people demanded more and more from the Government and corrupt politicians who knew better were more than willing to give it to us. We demanded that taxes NOT be raised and corrupt politicians were only too willing to not raise taxes. Well now the butchers bill has come due.

There is no free lunch.

Advice in an Obama administration interagency review memo to the Environmental Protection Agency warns that government regulation of greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act (CAA) will hurt the economy, and questions whether such a “precautionary” move would too expansively open up the door for government regulation.

“Making the decision to regulate CO2 under the CAA for the first time is likely to have serious economic consequences for regulated entities throughout the U.S. economy, including small businesses and small communities,” says one comment in the memo, which was officially sent by the White House’s Office of Management and Budget. “Should EPA later extend this finding to stationary sources, small businesses and institutions would be subject to costly regulatory programs such as New Source Review.” …

On April 17, Obama’s EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, issued a proposed “endangerment finding,” which would likely mean the EPA would regulate greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride, treated as a group as an air pollutant — through the Clean Air Act.

The White House has not yet decided to go forward with the finding. There is a 60-day comment period following the finding. As part of this process, the Obama administration requested comment from various departments and agencies on the endangerment finding, which is where the memo came from. The finding document remains very separate from the TSD, with only occasional
references to the IPCC or particular CCSP report findings, and it is up to the reader’s
interpretation of the TSD to determine how the evidence has been weighed to arrive at
the conclusions above. The finding rests heavily on the precautionary principle, but the
amount of acknowledged lack of understanding about basic facts surrounding GHGs
seem to stretch the precautionary principle to providing for regulation in the face of
unprecedented uncertainty. (The TSD notes several areas where essential behaviors of
GHGs are "not well determined" and "not well understood" (e.g., why have U.S. methane
levels decreased recently?).) This could be remedied by expanding the discussion on pp.
25-31 to articulate more clearly how the Administrator weighed the scientific evidence
related to each impact or how/whether she gave more or less weight to particular impacts
for either the public health or the welfare finding and how she weighed uncertainty in her
deliberations. (emphasis mine)

It is slightly, but only slightly, heartening to know that at least some folks in Government are aware of the "slight" problems with Global Warming. But that doesn’t mean anything except that the MSM will have to work "slightly" harder to cover up the bullshit.

Darn Those Consumers Why Aren’t They Running Up the Credit Cards Like They Used To? Hmmm…

That sure is a steep drop for an economy with only 8.9% of the populace unemployed. Could the Government be fudging the unemployment numbers?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) — U.S. consumer borrowing fell more than expected in March, plunging a record $11.1 billion, a Federal Reserve report showed Thursday.

March consumer credit fell at an annual rate of 5.2% to a total of $2.55 trillion. This was the biggest percentage drop since December 1990.

February’s decrease was revised to $8.1 billion from an originally reported $7.5 billion drop.

Analysts polled by Reuters were expecting a $3.5 billion drop in consumer borrowing for March.

Non-revolving credit, which includes closed-end loans for big-ticket items like cars, boats, college education and holidays, dropped $5.7 billion, or at a 4.2% rate, to $1.6 trillion.

Revolving credit, made up of credit and charge cards, fell $5.4 billion, or at a 6.8% rate, to $946 billion in March. This compared with a revised $9.7 billion drop in February. Consumer credit falls a record $11.1 billion in March – May. 7, 2009

The Desert Rock Energy Facility…Flattering EPA Report, Now You See It! Now You Don’t! Fun Stuff Over At EPA!

On April 28th Obama fulfilled a campaign promise regarding bankrupting Coal Power plants. He accomplished this by having his EPA pull a permit that had already been issued for the Desert Rock Energy Facility.� Well that’s not all the EPA is pulling retroactively! They also pulled the flattering report they themselves wrote regarding the very same facility.

Take a look at these two screenshots of this report regarding that very same powerplant. Sounds like the EPA was all for it until Obama wasn’t and then poof the EPA made the report go away. Thank you Google Cache!

Obviously some serious money was lost since the permit was already issued but hey the Power Company probably wasn’t a big enough contributor to the various extortionists/national politicians we seem to have running all over the place. Change you can believe in!

You can search for Desert Rock on the EPA site and the 10th result you get is a link to the report, the�search result�still exists at this time. ALBUQUERQUE � In a dramatic move yesterday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) withdrew the air quality permit it issued last summer for the Desert Rock coal-fired power plant, which is slated to be built on the Navajo Nation in the Four Corners region just southwest of Farmington, New Mexico.

Big Brother Is Watching And He Is Pissed…Pay Up! Taxes By GPS Monitoring of Vehicles.

Naturally a goddamn Republican, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, in Obama’s Cabinet is proposing this abortion.

The system would require all cars and trucks be equipped with global satellite positioning technology, a transponder, a clock and other equipment to record how many miles a vehicle was driven, whether it was driven on highways or secondary roads, and even whether it was driven during peak traffic periods or off-peak hours.

The device would tally how much tax motorists owed depending upon their road use. Motorists would pay the amount owed when it was downloaded, probably at gas stations at first, but an alternative eventually would be needed.

Rob Atkinson, president of the National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission, the agency that is developing future transportation funding options, said moving to a national VMT would take about a decade.

Privacy concerns are based more on perception than any actual risk, Atkinson said. The satellite information would be beamed one way to the car and driving information would be contained within the device on the car, with the amount of the tax due the only information that’s downloaded, he said. How could this go wrong? After all, what’s wrong with the government knowing exactly where you drive at all times. Maybe it is time for Glenn Reynolds to revisit his piece in the Chicago Tribune from 1995. In this piece Glenn argues that the militias, that everyone during that time were getting worked up about, were being established far too early. The militias, in Glenn’s opinion, did not have a case yet.

The most important aspect of this theory was representation. Those who were not represented lacked the citizen’s duty of loyalty. A government that taxed its citizens without representation was thus no better than an outlaw, and citizens enjoyed the same right of resistance against its officers as they possessed against robbers.

As this is being typed our "representatives" are busy hiding their motives behind closed secret meetings in a rush to mortgage our grandchildren’s future to pay back political favors.

Is this taxation without representation? Does this idea of taxation without representation have some technical meaning that negates the pit in my stomach. The pit the result of my having absolutely no input on how much money will be wrenched from the sweat of my brow to pay back political favors. Furthermore does this meaning of taxation without representation take into account that my grandchildren certainly have no representation…I have none yet. And yet they are the ones who will be paying this ridiculous bill back.

Does Glenn still think the militias have no case? Even in 1995 he cautioned those in power to take heed of those who felt so unrepresented that they were arming themselves for the revolution. Perhaps that is a warning that needs to be revisited? It certainly feels as if my government is making war on me.

Read these first few paragraphs of an article in the Telegraph.

"It is essential that government support through asset relief should not be on a scale that raises concern about over-indebtedness or financing problems.”

The secret 17-page paper was discussed by finance ministers, including the Chancellor Alistair Darling on Tuesday.

National leaders and EU officials share fears that a second bank bail-out in Europe will raise government borrowing at a time when investors – particularly those who lend money to European governments – have growing doubts over the ability of countries such as Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Italy and Britain to pay it back. Notice anything missing? Well the more astute might notice that no figures are given. Did you know that the first version of this article did in fact mention the numbers. Did you also know that the numbers are staggering? Well one of the commenters on Digg spotted the edits and called them out on it. Here is that comment.

Wow !!! How quickly do they sanitize an article !!! The original article (updated 1:51 PM GMT) has 3 additional paragraphs that are missing from the 3:50 PM GMT update. I don’t think it is coincidence that the paragraphs that give the actual numbers were removed; those numbers were quite damning. The original article stated: "European Commission officials have estimated that impaired assets may amount to 44pc of bank balance sheet, The Commission estimates that so-called financial instruments in the ‘trading book’ total £12.3 trillion (13.7 trillion euros), equivalent to about 33pc of EU bank balance sheets. In addition, so-called ‘available for sale instruments’ worth £4trillion (4.5 trillion euros), or 11 pc of balance sheets, are also added by the Commission to arrive at the headline figure of £16.3 trillion." Those kinds of numbers can send the financial world into a full-blown panic !

Yesterday we found out that the panic in September was caused by a mysterious run on our banks to the tune of 550 billion dollars. Live Leak first uncovered this bombshell…apparently our Mainstream press couldn’t be bothered to investigate this.

Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania explains how the Federal Reserve told Congress members about a "tremendous draw-down of money market accounts in the United States, to the tune of $550 billion dollars." According to Kanjorski, this electronic transfer occured over the period of an hour or two.

Never again a moderate…freedom is not a moderate value. I do not want to be moderately free.

This is an email in response to a heads up on a private email list regarding the Pajama Media initiative "Conservatism 2.0"

It (Conservatism 2.0) will be interesting if it actually adopts conservative positions instead of knee jerk support President Bush’s positions. We don’t need any more No Children Left Behind, Prescription Drug Benefits, Islam is the Religion of Peace, Killing Free Enterprise to Save It, Bail Out Everyone Because Failure is Unacceptable, Shamesty, A Republican Party That Nominates A Guy Who Threw the Race for President, Bipartisanship a Value Unto itself and the rest of the nonsense forced upon us by "Compassionate Conservatives"….aka as Democrats.

We need to stop listening to folks like Parker, Frum, Krauthammer and the rest of the Democrats who call themselves Republicans. We will never win by being Democrats lite. We will win by having someone at the top of the Republican Party who can actually defend the idea of Freedom. Who doesn’t reach for Government everytime something goes wrong. Who can defend freedom for its own sake. Who revels in the individual…not the State.

We ran Moderate McCain a man who is renowned for his bipartisanship and if he didn’t deliberately THROW the election he ran the most incompetent campaign in the history of politics. Never again a moderate…freedom is not a moderate value. I do not want to be moderately free.

We have seen such men and women before…we need to get rid of the establishment who gave us McCain and find those sorts of folks who gave us those who love Freedom. It is worth defending.

And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and the most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man.

This is the issue of this election: whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I’d like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There’s only an up or down: [up] man’s old — old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. And regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.

PS to my email. I believe that Governor Sarah Palin has the natural instincts to fit this description. She may not be able to describe it in eloquent terms yet but she does something far more valuable than that…she lives it. No other politician on the national scene understands our craving for freedom as well as Governor Palin. Black Law Student Association Launches a Witch Hunt Against One Professor That Reflects Badly Upon Everyone in Universities! Luckily Professor Fights Back and Wins!

Inside Higher Education has a great article regarding a Professor who sued his students and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock after being falsely accused of racism. Sounds just like the sort of crazy nonsense that is wrong with Universities these days. Also sounds like the sort of battles that Republicans better get ready to fight considering Obama�s methods, and his allies quick use of racism charges to silence dissent.

Another accusation against him was that � in the same time frame when he had criticized affirmative action � he was insensitive in passing out �a basic grammar worksheet� to the class and telling students to focus more on their writing. There was no accusation that he focused on the black students, only that he raised this issue shortly after he has been critical of affirmative action. On this charge, Peltz noted that faculty members had been urged by the state Bar to focus more on writing issues because some law students were in danger of failing the Bar exam due to poor writing skills. Amazing he that wasn�t fired or perhaps he is tenured. Reverse racism, or affirmative action simply is racism and creates hatred, not fairness. I was fired by the Chairman because I refused to pass a black student who did not attend class or do any work; the Chair wanted him passed for racial quota purposes, so the Chair changed my grade of F to passing, thereby discriminating against all the other students. I didn�t care what race, ethnicity, age, sex, or attitude a student had, only that they were able to learn the material no matter what I had to do to help them to pass standard tests pursuant to obtaining a professional license. What the Chair did was wrong, to the students and to the profession.

Well I am feeling all warm and fuzzy knowing that grades are just handed out to meet quotas. What we are seeing here is the destruction of nearly 2500 years of experience regarding basic ideas, truth matters, honor matters, actually knowing the material matters. Would Reverend King think all this color running around as victims a good thing?

The question is can any Republican overcome their fear of being branded a racist to fight back? Perhaps we can take a cue from the Queen of Denmark.

The Queen of Denmark said it best �A counterbalance has to be found, and one has to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on you. For there are some things for which one should display no tolerance. And when we are tolerant, we must know whether it is because of convenience or conviction.�

She was defending her right to stand up to Islam�s attempt to overwhelm Europe. We might take a cue from her as those would debase our civilization by eliminating standards try to destroy our nation in order to steal success. Hint success is not given, nor taken, it is earned. You see, on October 1st, 2008, “the existing bans on Outer Continental Shelf drilling and oil shale leasing expire — unless Congress specifically votes to extend the bans.”

What will likely happen, according to AFP is that “Congressional leaders will likely try to sneak an extension into supposedly ‘must-pass’ last-minute spending legislation.”

Republicans, including most importantly, John McCain, should refuse to support ANY legislation that extends the drilling ban. Grasping this, our leading politicians engage in a consensual censorship to skip issues that involve distasteful choices or that require deferred gratification. They prefer to assign blame and promise benefits. So elections come and go, there are winners and losers — and our problems fester. There is a group of folks who are supposed to prevent this sort of collusion. Rush calls them the Drive By Media for a reason though. Sickening as it may be, it is an indication of just how shallow we have become as a people. We are getting both the press and the politicians we deserve…

A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser®. According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal, Inc. website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers (video also shown below).

This bracelet would:

• take the place of an airline boarding pass

• contain personal information about the traveler

• be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage

• shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes

That statement was made by Rep. Fagan Defense attorney and Democratic member of the House, during the debate to enact mandatory 20 year sentences for those FOUND GUILTY…of raping children under 12 years old. Exactly how are Republicans losing to shit heads like that? Jessica’s law apparently offends him…he offends me. Deeply. Around this time some lawyer type is going to pop up like those wacka weasels to defend this stack of shit but screw him…and them.

Yes a case can be made that some of those found guilty in these trials have been later found innocent. But that argues for adjusting the way these trials are conducted, not for what we do to folks after they have been found guilty. Far too many of these predators have found their ways out of jail to murder and rape again. Sex offenders are repeat offenders. Rapists are the worst repeat offenders. And that is when we catch them. Lord knows in the current system catching them in the first place is next to impossible since many don’t report the crime. Then when they do report the crime folks like that stack of shit above make them sorry for reporting it.

In the recent high-profile stories about sex offenders being charged with murder, the criminals should never have been at large. In one case, the offender had failed to register his address, but no one looked for him. In another case, a judge released the offender on bail, even though he had a record of being jailed for sex crimes. In another case, the offender was jailed for a minor charge and then released, because the officials didn’t know that there was a warrant out for his arrest in another state. In other cases, the offenders were released from prison before they served their entire sentence.

Established in June 1997, the Center for Sex Offender Management’s (CSOM) goal is to enhance public safety by preventing further victimization through improving the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders who are in the community. The Center for Sex Offender Management is sponsored by the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the National Institute of Corrections, State Justice Institute, and the American Probation and Parole Association. CSOM is administered through a cooperative agreement between OJP and the Center for Effective Public Policy.

Over at that site we find out just how big of a problem this is…

One method of dealing with this problem is to examine recidivism studies of specific types of sex offenders. This approach is warranted, given the established base rate differences across types of sex offenders. (Recent research suggests that many offenders have histories of assaulting across genders and age groups, rather than against only one specific victim population. Researchers in a 1999 study (Ahlmeyer, English, and Simons) found that, through polygraph examinations, the number offenders who “crossed over” age groups of victims is extremely high. The study revealed that before polygraph examinations, 6 percent of a sample of incarcerated sex offenders had both child and adult victims, compared to 71 percent after polygraph exams. Thus, caution must be taken in placing sex offenders in exclusive categories.) Marshall and Barbaree (1990) found in their review of studies that the recidivism rate for specific types of offenders varied:

Incest offenders ranged between 4 and 10 percent.

Rapists ranged between 7 and 35 percent.

Child molesters with female victims ranged between 10 and 29 percent.

Child molesters with male victims ranged between 13 and 40 percent.

Exhibitionists ranged between 41 and 71 percent.

How is that for scary statistics! And all these statistics are only for those crimes we find out about…from the CSOM site:

Underestimating Recidivism

Reliance on measures of recidivism as reflected through official criminal justice system data obviously omit offenses that are not cleared through an arrest or those that are never reported to the police. This distinction is critical in the measurement of recidivism of sex offenders. For a variety of reasons, sexual assault is a vastly underreported crime. The National Crime Victimization Surveys (Bureau of Justice Statistics) conducted in 1994, 1995, and 1998 indicate that only 32 percent (one out of three) of sexual assaults against persons 12 or older are reported to law enforcement. A three-year longitudinal study (Kilpatrick, Edmunds, and Seymour, 1992) of 4,008 adult women found that 84 percent of respondents who identified themselves as rape victims did not report the crime to authorities. (No current studies indicate the rate of reporting for child sexual assault, although it is generally assumed that these assaults are equally underreported.) Many victims are afraid to report sexual assault to the police. They may fear that reporting will lead to the following:

further victimization by the offender;

other forms of retribution by the offender or by the offender’s friends or family;

arrest, prosecution, and incarceration of an offender who may be a family member or friend and on whom the victim or others may depend;

others finding out about the sexual assault (including friends, family members, media, and the public);

not being believed; and

being traumatized by the criminal justice system response

Dr. James Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, sounded the alarm about global warming in testimony before a Senate subcommittee exactly 20 years ago.

Good to know that “scientists” like him are in “charge” of our tax dollars…open minded and all! No wonder we are dying under a mountain of public debt with clowns like this running the show.

He returned to the topic Monday with a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., given to the Worldwatch Institute.

“Special interests have blocked the transition to our renewable energy future,” Hansen writes in an opinion piece posted on the institute’s Web site. “Instead of moving heavily into renewable energies, fossil fuel companies choose to spread doubt about global warming, just as tobacco companies discredited the link between smoking and cancer. I have worked the phones, knocked on doors, and written extensively on why they are better. I do none of that anymore…now those puddin heads want to send me stuffed animals named Sam to entice me to restart my giving…astounding. Why not send me some hope that they are different than the Democrats?

What happened? When did we lose focus? When did we go from being the Party of Ideas and philosophy to the party of appeasement and stuffed animals? You laugh and think he is nuts for saying the Republicans are the party of Appeasement? Tell me exactly what the hell is McCain calling for when he makes the claim that he will cross the aisle and work with the other side? The other side is Obama and tell me exactly when he has bragged about crossing the aisle to work with us? Why do we apologize for our ideas? Why don’t the Democrats apologize for theirs? Their ideas lead to corruption and disaster and yet we act as if they have ideas worth meeting halfway. Why? When do they meet us halfway and furthermore exactly why is it valuable to meet certain ideas halfway. Should we meet those who would nationalize our oil industries half way? What is the compromise point in that discussion? Should we give away half of our guns? Give away half of our children’s education to their corruptions? Goddamn I hate McCain…but I hate Obama worse.

Which ideas lead to corruption and disaster? Let me count the ways.

Democrat Ted Kennedy authored the 1965 Immigration that has led to whole sale changes of our society. He explicitly promised that his changes would not bring exactly what they have brought.

1965: “The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.” (uh dial one for english…2 for whatever)

In the fall of 1974, Nixon resigned under the pressure of the Watergate scandal and was succeeded by Gerald Ford. Congress cut funding to South Vietnam for the upcoming fiscal year from a proposed 1.26 billion to 700 million dollars (which led directly to the Boat People and Cambodia, congrats to the Democrats)
The War on Poverty…which has given us, drumroll please, more poverty.

If you are a thief you tend to view others as thieves. Since the left makes it’s living as thieves of the labor of others it colors their entire world view. We will never convince them that there might be other explanations for wealth. They simply cannot conceive that wealth is created by working for it, it is so much easier to steal it. You can spot them in schools because they are the ones cheating.

But most peoples of the world (including American leftists) do not understand this — which is why they do not invent anything important — and instead view American wealth as if it were looted, rather than created. Is this common practice? Boy this sure seems dishonest….notice all the information missing? Fox News was not the only one that saw fit to exclude the information. WSJ and others had no problem omitting the death of the latest attempt by the Senate to end run around their voters clear wish to stop illegal immigration.

I guess I won’t suppose that Fox News, WSJ and others omitted this news because they are pro-illegal immigration. Or should I?

Anyways I came upon this after clicking a line at Michelle’s site and noticing that her snippet did not match the snippet posted on the International Herald Tribune’s site. Cannot imagine that the snippet from the IHT site posted on Michelle’s site sprung from her imagination so they must have changed the article after she posted.

Now that it’s clear that Democrats won’t insist on a troop withdrawal timeline, the White House is focusing on making sure the measure doesn’t exceed his request.

The Senate war funding bill combines $194.1 billion in spending over for war funding, foreign aid, military base construction, heating subsidies and a variety of smaller items. Then there’s $14.5 billion to give 13 weeks of unemployment checks to people whose benefits have run out and $51.6 billion over 10 years to improve GI Bill benefits.

There’s $108 billion remaining from Bush’s war funding request for the 2008 budget year ending Sept. 30. But the White House appears willing to lump that request together with $70 billion to carry the war into next spring, as well as Bush’s $5.8 billion request to construct levees in Louisiana.

That puts Bush’s request at $183.8 billion—more than $10 billion below the Senate measure.

The immigrant farm labor provision added to the measure at a hearing last week by Sens Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Larry Craig, R- Idaho, would allow almost 1.4 million immigrant farm workers to stay in the United States for up to five years to ease a shortage of farm workers that has left some crops rotting in the fields.

Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and Judd Gregg, R-N.H., followed that up with a provision to extend an expired program to allow seasonal workers to return to the country using H-2B visas.

Gregg, typically a fiscal conservative, voted with Democrats at last week’s hearing to adopt $1 billion worth of additional energy subsidies for the poor. That provision led top Appropriations panel Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi—himself the driving force behind $1 billion for coastal restoration in Mississippi—to warn his colleagues that they were simply guaranteeing a Bush veto.

Still, Republicans such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas—a member of the Senate GOP leadership team—pressed ahead with add-ons of their own. Hutchison won approval of $100 million in grants to local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border.

It’s the type of situation White House budget director Jim Nussle had in mind last month when he chided senators for a “sky-is-the-limit mind-set” regarding “the desire of some in Congress to load up this troop funding bill with tens of billions in additional spending.”

Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri moved to keep open three “veterans business resource centers” with $600,000 in taxpayer funds. One of the centers, naturally, is in St. Louis; the others were in Flint, Mich., and Boston.

Ted Kennedy Promised This Wouldn’t Happen…Guess He Lied.

In an article in the Los Angeles Times by Gregory Rodriguez, that wasn’t all together ridiculous, this point was made.

But that doesn’t make it right. No matter who wins the presidency, there is one thing we ought to learn from this campaign. Here is what Teddy, yes the same Teddy who is lying in a hospital facing his maker, well here is what he said back in 1965 then what he said in 1986 then what he said in 2007. At least he is a consistent liar.

1986: “This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.”

2007: “Now it is time for action. 2007 is the year we must fix our broken system.

So now we find whites in America nearly a minority, after being nearly 90% of the population when that bastard spewed those lies. Yea, Teddy was good for this country. That bastard hated this country and spent his life trying to destroy it. And truth is he probably did.

So who is going to replace the whites in America as the leaders? Well the very same folks who made such a hash of their own countries that they ran away and came here. That diversity thingy is working out well for Southern California. Iraq, Somalia, Vietnam the list goes on of countries where we have expended much treasure and blood trying to make them something they are not. Perhaps liberal democratic republics cannot be given to folks. If that is the case then maybe it is not such a great idea to be importing in the United States millions of folks who have no idea what we mean when we say law abiding. Law abiding people, people smart enough to understand that mutual respect of the law is the only thing that keeps us away from the visions of disaster that are such a part of those countries south of our border.

Our very top General in Iraq spent quality time apologizing to the “Vice President” of Iraq. And that apology wasn’t good enough for Hajji.

No Hajji wants us to have all the US soldiers protecting his sorry ass and those of his people, who it might be said he could NOT protect without the US Soldiers, sign some sort of promise that they will respect hajji’s traditions and customs. Like the one where you behead prisoners…oops no not that one. Maybe they mean the one where they get to murder any woman in sight if said woman might complain about the size of their…ego. Yea ego.

Hashemi said he told Austin that American soldiers should be required to sign an agreement to respect holy sites and the cultures and traditions of Iraq.

“I asked that this document is distributed today to American soldiers and officers and that they sign this document. So that if they violate this they will be held to account and face the most severe punishment in the future,” Hashemi said.

Most severe punishment…hmm that freedom of speechy thing hasn’t quite filtered up to the leaders yet has it? Hajji and his fellow compatriots should be left to their own devices. We should keep troops nearby and stomp them if needed. But this trying to teach a bunch of tribes how to act like they weren’t raised by wolves is just so much bullshit. I am tired of hearing about Hajji. I never signed on to teaching hajji how to build the most advanced civilization in the world. Hell we couldn’t even teach the French how to do that. Illegal Immigration around the world in 60 seconds!

Hmm…looks like that illegal immigration thing might be an election winner. First Switzerland then the NPD in Germany making a strong showing, now Italy…hmm a trend? And obviously with the rise of the NPD not always a great trend but when you spit on the locals by importing new voters they can always return the favor and get new politicians.

Some party hack decreed that the people

This week’s operation appeared to signal the new conservative government’s intention to keep its election promise to crack down on illegal immigrants. Berlusconi was helped to a bigger-than-expected victory thanks to his ally, the anti-immigration Northern League, which posted its best result since 1996 with a projected 8.7 percent of the upper-house vote and 22 senators. That will give the Northern League a big say in molding the new government’s agenda. It advocates devolving central-government powers over schools, police and taxes to local authorities and greater controls against illegal immigrants.

Shows us the path here in the States to stopping illegal immigration. We need new politicians. Because as soon as these parties got into power they started shaking the tree.

Italy’s new conservative interior minister Roberto Maroni said on Friday the country needs “firm measures” to tackle the “security emergency” caused by illegal immigration.

“The country demands immediate and effective answers form all political forces, working together to resolve the problems afflicting our communities,” said Maroni (photo), who belongs to the anti-immigrant Northern League party.

“Firm measures” are needed to renew police trust and prevent people taking matters into their own hands, Maroni said. He pledged to bolster the resources available for Italy’s police and security services.

Renew the peoples trust in the police…hmm. Prevent People from taking matters into their own hands. Lots of wisdom in those words. After all humans agreed to police forces a long time ago because they promised to keep the order. If they fail to keep order the reason for them fades and people will believe they need to take matters into their own hands. Not a good scenario as you might well imagine.

Earlier this week, people in a low-income suburb of the southern city of Naples set fire to a Roma Gypsy camp, forcing them to flee, after a report that a teenage Roma girl allegedly tried to kidnap an Italian baby.

“It is time to intervene with force to prevent anger taking over… and to avoid episodes of the unjustifiable violence that we saw in Naples,” Maroni stated.

Naturally there will be some who scream the same tired epitaphs at those who try and fix the problems of the clash of cultures. Problems caused in large part by the same sorts of people who scream those epitaphs the loudest.

Spain’s vice-president Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega has accused the Italian government of racism and xenophobia.

“The [Spanish] government rejects violence, racism and xenophobia, thus it does not agree with what is happening in Italy,” said Fernandez de la Vega at a media conference on Friday.

“Immigration is a necessary phenomenon, which is positive as long as it is orderly and legal,” said Fernandez de la Vega.
“The government does not share the deportations without respect for laws and rights.”

This statement while not a response to the Spanish Vice President certainly could be!

“For some time Italy has been the gateway of the Mediterranean, but this door now needs to be slammed shut because we have a duty to defend our citizens and guarantee their safety” affirmed Italy’s Minister for Community Policies, Andrea Ronchi, in an interview given to daily ‘Il Corriere della Sera’. “We – he went on – shall punish illegal immigrants, irregular stays by foreigners who commit crimes on our territory. And this is our full right as a nation, because there is not any contravention of international law. We don’t want to erect barriers, but our objective is that a culture of law and order comes to be shared across Europe”.

If only that realization hit our politicians it would be revolutionary! Imagine that, not allowing illegal immigration because of the crime it introduces into the center of our civilization!

Of course there is a point of no return. A point where if we don’t control illegals quickly enough they control the government. Witness California where Proposition 187, a state wide initiative to control illegal immigration, passed with over 58% of the vote in state wide elections.

California Proposition 187 was a 1994 ballot initiative designed to deny illegal immigrants social services, health care, and public education. It was introduced by assemblyman Dick Mountjoy (Republican from Monrovia, California) as the Save Our State initiative. A number of other organizations were involved in bringing it to the voters. It passed with 58.8% of the vote,[1] but was overturned by a federal court. The measure prompted support for similar bills in Illinois, Florida, New York and Texas.^[1]

But the measure was challenged in court and ultimately defeated by Grey Davis who simply stopped the appeal process allowing the measure to die. Thus even when the people spoke in overwhelming terms their desires were ignored. Makes one wonder exactly what does it take for us to win?

Where is our Berlusconi? Where are the politicians who will stand up and stop the transformation of the United States into a third world country? We must understand that we will be called the most vicious names in out fight to preserve our culture. It is worth the price.

Because Republicans are just incredibly stupid…how else to explain 29 Republican Sponsors to this abortion!

Obviously if as a United States Congressmen you are NOT willing to stop illegal immigration you should make damn sure that no pesky state or local officials go around you and take care of the problem themselves. More obviously if you are a hopelessly stupid political party getting its ass handed to it in every single goddamn election held you should GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO PISS ON YOUR BASE. Naturally. So that explains these 29 clowns wearing the Republican badge sponsoring legislation to take away States rights to police up a problem they refuse to face. After all when you aren’t collecting much money from your base because you have foot tapped your way into hell then corporations like Tyson Foods and Mohawk Fabrics who employ thousands of illegal’s are your only hope. So you better please them by trying to pass this shitty legislation. Take a good look at the wording of this…

(b) Enhancement of Federal Preemption Standards- Section 274A(h)(2) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1324a(h)(2)) is amended to read as follows:

`(2) PREEMPTION; NO NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD-

`(A) PREEMPTION- The provisions of this section preempt any provision of any law of any State or political subdivision thereof or any contract entered into by any State or political subdivision thereof which–

`(i) imposes civil or criminal sanctions upon employers for actions governed by the Act;

`(ii) requires, authorizes or permits a system of verification of the immigration status of employees or employment applicants;

`(iii) requires, authorizes, or permits the use of a federally mandated employment verification system for any other purpose other than that required by Federal law, including verifying status of renters, determining eligibility for receipt of benefits, enrollment in school, obtaining or retaining a business or other license provided by the unit of government, or conducting a background check; or

`(iv) requires or prohibits the use of an immigration status employment verification system for any purpose, except as required by Federal law, including without limitation, such purposes as–

`(I) a condition of receiving a government contract;

`(II) a condition of receiving a business license; or

`(III) the basis of assessing a penalty.

Here are the sponsors of the above nonsense…and this is only part of the nonsense. This is a blatant attempt to nullify the great work being done locally to deal with the huge influx of illegal aliens. The efforts of states like Arizona and Oklahoma will be killed by this legislation! Now is as good a time as any to remind these clowns that while Tyson and Mohawk and the others that are donating money to them won’t be able to replace all the votes they are losing. To that crazy shit let me just say that even Hillary ran as fast as she could from Spitzers loony idea to give Illegal’s drivers licenses. Even liberals like New Yorkers didn’t think that was a great idea. Some of them have claimed that the election in Mississippi proved that being tough on illegal’s was a losing strategy. Not sure how they can claim this with a straight face given that the positions of the candidates were so similar that even the RHINO wag making this absurd claim had to admit it.

I can tell you that at this point I don’t even look at Republican efforts at fundraising. I just toss them into the garbage…I hope they are getting enough money from those border jumpers to make up the difference!

Slip Sliding Away…Slip Sliding Away…you know, the less you defend Freedom of Speech the more it slip slides away.

Depressing when France is more courageous than the United States. But the truth hurts…witness this editor who was fired for publishing the cartoons in the French Newspaper France Soir. We are at war right now and since this is largely an ideological war, words matter. The ability to speak freely matters. Here is Flemming Rose commenting on the failure of the American Press to publish the cartoons in solidarity with the fight to keep speech free.

“It reads on the top of the New York Times, ‘All the News That’s Fit to Print,’ but it’s very hard to argue that this was not news on February 1, 2006,” the culture editor of Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten, Flemming Rose, said Wednesday night during a speech at Stanford University. Most American newspapers did not publish the cartoons, which include images of Muhammad with a bomb in his turban and of suicide bombers being greeted by the Muslim prophet in heaven.

“Europe has usually been criticized for being politically correct and on the defense when it comes to Islam, but more European newspapers published the cartoons,” he said. “We might not have had the kind of ongoing crisis if more newspapers around the world would have published the cartoons at the same time because by doing so you would have drawn a clear line. … Instead, it was pretty unclear what people in liberal democracies thought of this issue.” Cartoon Editor Disillusioned With U.S. Press | The New York Sun

Our press grievously failed to live up to their responsibility of being the guardians of free speech. By appeasing the easily offended muslims they have ceded ground in our fight that we will not get back. We should have published those cartoons. Weasel little nothings like James David Dickson editor of The Michigan Review making sorry excuses for not living up to his responsibility did us no favors. Witness this poor excuse for failure and notice that it is the National Review that gives him a stage to embarrass himself. Did they agree with his stance?

The Danish cartoons arose from a desire to combat European self-censorship, but the almost-uniform refusal of American editors to reprint the cartoons speaks to the extent to which our press truly is free. In the case of The Michigan Review, this meant freedom from the sophomoric, macho impulse to offend for the sake of it, as if to pretend that discretion isn’t the better part of valor. Americans self-censor because we don’t see the need to offend; Europeans self-censor because they fear an Islamic backlash. The Danes profane the prophet Mohammed to include Muslims in their culture; we don’t profane Mohammed because, frankly, we wouldn’t do it to anyone else.

Absolutely incredible. This twit exercises his freedom by avoiding confrontation with those who would steal it away.

Under the headline “We have the right to caricature God,” a French newspaper today reprinted the Danish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that have ignited extraordinary anti-Danish protests, death threats and boycotts across the Muslim world. France Soir published the drawings, first printed by Jyllands-Posten, a right-of-centre Danish broadsheet last September, across pages four and five of this morning’s edition with an editorial that defended the freedom of the press. “The publication of 12 cartoons in the Danish press has shocked the Muslim world for whom the representation of Allah and his prophet is banned,” the newspaper said. “But because no religious dogma can impose its view on a democratic and secular society, France Soir publishes the incriminated cartoons.”
